    Question E51 Questions

    questions:
    1. did anyone update their firmware to the latest & with no problem/s? mine is still stock fw & just wondering if updating is worth it? (latest s 200.34.36)

    2. when i first get a new txt message / sender info all numbers yet and saved the contact number, the original message sender info does not update. it is still numbers even though it's already entered in my contacts. but succeeding txts though will already indicate the contacts' name. is it like that also with ur e51? my previous fones nokia and others will always update. any solution. i know it's very trivial but i wanted it fixed.

    thanks!

    1) yes tried updating...i think its worth it...i always go for latest firmware 99% of the time that is hehehe.

    2) all symbian phones act that way...it doesnt update because its already the title thats being displayed in your inbox. unlike your old phones, everytime you open the inbox the phone check the phonebook with each msg number and displays the appropriate name which is refreshed everytime you open the inbox thus you can even see them displaying one at a time slowly. symbian doesnt do that coz it would be too slow and a resource hog. imagine your old phone can hold 150 msg. your new phone hold more than 10,000 msg...old phone holds 500 phonebook...new phone holds thousands.

with symbian, when msg is received, it checks the contacts and labels that message with either the name or just the number(incase number is not in the contacts) as a title to the msg. this is done once only. therefore title will not change even if you add that number to the contacts. only new msg from that number will reflect the added entry. in the same way if you delete an entry sa contacts, the msg you received from that number will still display the name in the inbox because that is the title of the msg.
