oh the elusive sixpack...I had that before washboard abs and all that jazz... the only thing harder than getting one is maintaining it. I used to be a fitness/personal trainer back in the day.. so heres my advice to people who want to have great abs, LOSE THE FAT around your gut! Common misconception is if you do tons of crunches youll lose your fat gut..working on your abs build muscle not burn fat.. the bitter truth is you can do a million crunches with perfect execution but your abs wont show if you still have abdominal fat.(note: be very careful of trainers who are not certified or trainers who have no training at this level -CORE TRAINING. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH..)you may end up injuring yourself without the right information.. proper technique is very imporant if you want results.I tried to narrow it down into 3 major factors you need to follow to get that elusive sixpack. 1. CARDIO is very important but never do the same thing over and over again mix it up a bit. Pilates, taebo, stairmaster, treadmill etc...do one form of cardio today change it the next so your muscles dont adapt to the stress your putting it thru..so EXERCISE. the more muscle you have the faster you burn fat. next would be DIETING.. to get and maintain a sixpack i had to live with no rice! no softdrinks! counting calories, watching my sodium intake..the list goes on trust me not a fun at all. Dont starve yourself instead eat 6 small meals a day, what it does is it speeds up your metabolism so you burn food faster. Find out about complex and simple carbs...if you can live with just protein shakes, bars or maybe just camote and tuna for a few months youll see the results fast this is the way to go.You are allowed one cheat day of course.. Finally SUPPLEMENTATION if you want fast results juice up with fat burners and the like.If you have the patience to wait then thats your call but if you follow all 3 religiously a six pack in 3 months is achievable considering you are not overweight. If you want a website that can help you with ideas or what not check this out.Fat Loss - Fat Burning Diet - Burn The Fat Feed the Muscle. some people may get it sooner than others.. some dont even have to try that hard..some unfortunate people like me had to invest a lot of time, effort and money to achieve the coveted sixpack.yes genetics is key but trust me anyone can get it contrary to what the previous comments said. Genetics only dictates how your abdominals are shaped, in this endeavor hard work and diligence pays off. As for me, been there done that.. my sixpack days are long gone I eat whatever I want now within reason of course.haha So was it worth all the effort? maybe if you value your looks or just want to pat yourself in the back and say damn you hot by all means the go for it..but if you dont want to give up the simple pleasures in life..like good food. Just stay TONED and FIT.. a sixpack is way overrated..work on the things that really matter.Hope this helps.
