    performance-wise comparisons:

    q9300 (qc) vs. q6600 (qc) : q9300 totally smokes the q6600
    q9300 (qc) vs. e8500 (dc) : e8500 is better

    ** reference: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...uad-q9300.html

in the long run, having a processor with more cores will be a better investment as software developers will be urged to make use of multiple cores.

it is unfortunate that amd still doesn't have anything to match the above processors in performance.

Performance wise, i dont see how it "smokes" the Q6600 as the gap is at 5~8% average, w/c translates to nothing much in real world.

But power usage wise, this is where the Q9300 shines, but its not a decent clocker only at 3.5Ghz while most Q6600 (G0's) clock at 3.6Ghz, another problem introduced by the 45nm is faster electro migration, meaning anything outside intels VID spec WILL produce long term damage regardless of cooling. The Q9450 is where the show is at

    GeForce 9800 GX2 Launch On March 11th

Nvidia has informed their partners that the launch date for GeForce 9800 GX2 has been pushed back to March 11th but most probably you can still see the cards during CeBIT. However, Nvidia hasn't provide partners with working cards yet and the final clock speeds have yet to be determined. In the meanwhile, Nvidia has asked the card partners to put up a label on their product boxes to address concerns about end users plugging in the 8-pin connector for motherboard into the 8-pin PCIe power connector on the 9800GX2 card.

NOTE: sorry mods OT...was just answering his question
