i have heard that local support here in the Philippines is poor. as per IT magazine author reviews, DELL CS/TS is poor and that is not only with one author. I actually read 2 articles from respected authors from respected magazines, i just forgot the names. it was even posted in our corp. mail.

i have not used a dell equipment though. that's just how far my research went, that's all.

Yes, reviews are very important tools to consider before buying high ticket items like laptops. Yes, Dell customer support has deteriorated since outsourcing it to other countries ie India because of the heavy accent. Before, it would take 30-45 mins phone support to troubleshoot, issue work orders and finish the phone conversation but since outsourcing, it would take more than double, 1-3 hrs because tech support from India repeats each and every word the customer utters because of their heavy accent and vice versa. I can't speak for MDI's service for the simple reason that i haven't tried it.

Honestly, most of the top 5 mobile computer manufacturers have their own share of bad reviews. Most of them have the same supplier of parts ie motherboard, lcd, cpu, and other peripherals and thus the reason for similar faulty parts. It would then boil down to after-sales service which Dell dominates (U.S.) currently. Dell pioneered the 24/7 phone tech support and the next business day onsite service. You don't have to ship your unit to the depot and lose about a week due to downtime. An onsite service technician will contact you the next day you opened a call and set up an appointment thereafter. This is true to the U.S. only and i don't have facts to support if we talk about their service outside of the U.S.

This is the exact same reason why I am offering a personal 1 yr warranty on parts and service to clients in Cebu which I've sold about 3 dozens already. So far, i haven't encountered factory defects on the systems i've sold. Customers are happy with their systems since they bought it. Warranty does not include broken lcd's, liquid spills, regular wear and tear on plastics, external factors (electrical surges) and customer abuse to mention a few. I also cater to upgrades on systems ie cpu, memory, hard drive, battery and dvdrw's. Shipment of parts will take approx 15-30 days.

it really depends on how you take care of the systems. if you try to check on the specifications they are the same, it is only the brand name that makes them differ.
