ADVANTAGE OF JAVA OVER C# and VICE-VERSA

How do you know na slow ang improvement sa Java? I think C# siguro paspas siya ug improvement kay iyang gi-apas ang Java. Lastly, C# is only good on M$ Windows platform. If you compare it (i.e. Mono) with Java on a Non-M$ platform daghan pa kaayo siya mga kuwang. Ang mga namespaces is dili completo.

In the first place, C# is influenced by Java. Ang akong nabaw-an, some features of C# are features which were not implemented by Java, but were already in mind. Wa lang nila gi-implement jud pero nahuna-huna-an na nila (i.e. properties, delegates etc..). Alisto sad kaau ning C# sa pag-implement :P. I also agree to one of the previous posts that C# is suffering from "featurititis?". But still there are features in C# that are very useful which are not on Java. But wait for Java 7 to come out!!!!

C# apps are indeed faster compared to Java apps when ran on Windows, ang-ang noh MS gud gabuhat. Yes, Java is relatively slower when ran on Windows, but check it on Solaris, basin mas pas-pas. Sulti-i nya ko kay wa sad ko kahibaw. Hehehehehe.

My point is the same as what the other posts pointed out "right tools for the right job" or kinda like that. If you want to develop crossplatform softwares use Java (you can also use C# but I believe Java has more support), but if your app is intended for MS-OS platform then use C# or better yet C++.

I maybe biased becuase I'm a "Java-Man"... LOL... but I believe each technology/language has a distinct advantage over each other.

considering age gap(Java 1995, C# 2000) look at the coding structure and compare? also productivity.
coz C# has great support for the Windows OS then better run Java apps in non Windows OS to make it more sensible..tama ba.hehe Main reason also is simplicity that's why there is R&D for innovation.
C# has some real improvement that should help simplify life of
programmers. not unles kong mag 0's and 1's njud, salute nku nya..lol

Target O.S. = preferred language

Windows = C#
Non-windows = Java
Multi O.S. = Java

I think I'll stick with Java coz I love Linux

Java and Linux is just like Windows and .Net..

the nice thing with Java and C# is that you can easilly switch between the two since the syntax are alike.
your platform may vary so your tool should also vary. if your client is using Linux, might as well use JAVA, otherwise, C#.

pero if nahan ka ug multiplatform gyud..use Delphi nalang.. if nahan ka padaganon linux, just compile it using linux, if nahan ka mac, compile it in mac, if nahan ka windows, compile it in windows..mudagan ra gihapon..payts..AFAIK.

I deal with multi platform everyday so for me Java is the best option, no recompilation required. Performance is optimized by multi-threading.

I think I would go for C++. Correct me if I'm wrong, before Java was considered a multiplatform language. I think C++ was the good candidate of multiplatform at that time.

for comfortability, yes. but mostly some are running vmwares/virtual pc's mimicking the NIX environment and there they are coding the java apps. others too are comfortable developing on top of windows environment and have their finished products deployed on NIX boxes.

its not the programmers fault that their employers provide them with windows machines. hehehehe

I think also the client specifications and the license especially the FOSS(Free and open source software - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) license. Correct me if I'm wrong mas daghan man gud ang Java na open-source ang mga libraries for example kanang maka-read/write ka ug office file format without installing M$ Office (Apache POI - Java API To Access Microsoft Format Files).
