What i mean in manipulate hardwares is that you can communicate with your PC hardwares. You can teach you PC ports what to do, for example the serial port or the parallel port of your PC, C# can communicate with them, or your USB port. Communication with these hardwares can be made through C#. Java is just a virtual machine..

In Java you can manipulate the hardware by using Java Native Interface(JNI). For information read this Java Native Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aside, ang Java dili maka-manipulate sa hardware directly because of multiplatform siya. Diffirent OS have different hardware implementations.

Ang C# maka-manipulate siya sa hardware kay M$ Windows OS ra man siya mo dagan. In case mo run ang C#/.NET sa other platform/OS, dali ra ba na manipulate niya ang hardware? I think NO. Mao pud na ang ilang problem when it comes to multiplatform.

Lastly, .NET is also a virtual machine.

.Net is a Virtual Machine that sits on top of the OS itself thats why its much faster compared to the VM of the Java, AFAIK. Im not sure though.

Aside pa gyud sa VM, naa pa gyud lain kanang Just-in-time compilation (JIT). See Just-in-time compilation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for more details.

nice discussion. learn a lot here!

it appears to me that when Java improves it will look more closely like C#...lol

Java is Hot, But C# Rocks!!!

How do you know na slow ang improvement sa Java? I think C# siguro paspas siya ug improvement kay iyang gi-apas ang Java. Lastly, C# is only good on M$ Windows platform. If you compare it (i.e. Mono) with Java on a Non-M$ platform daghan pa kaayo siya mga kuwang. Ang mga namespaces is dili completo.
