Fine Upgrades will release a poweline Router and Powerline Homeplug receivers very soon. It works quite well, plug and play So no more hassle of cabling
Availability is one thing, performance and stability is another. I don't see where the convenience would rival performance/reliability that it would be something I personally wouldn't pull my hair out. What is the throughput going to be in the Cebu's unstable power and often times unshielded/unprotected lines? I'm sure you've run into "power" issues where it has killed hardware ... now you are just plugging more expensive components to the very same line. Lets talk about "brownouts" ... while Cat5 will work fine with just your networking equipment on UPS/Generators, there is no such luck with powerline where you have to get the whole electrical system up and running instead of powering a few devices.

Don't get me wrong, Powerline works great, I'm just a bit skeptical about using it over Cat5 in Cebu whether it is from Home or Business ... definitely not business. If you are going to invest in an active power system (as opposed to passive) ... then it'd probably work great ... but that investment is probably more costly than just running cat5 though the ceilings and walls which unless your house or business is decades old ... is probably trivial.

tested and proven nmn ni, naa man gani ga.project ani sa comp.e sa usc-tc...

sakto ka vern... ang problema jud ang stability sa gi.supply nga power sa electric company... pero pwede man sad butangan ug ups per outlet nga gamiton ani nga device... so, outlet->ups->Router and Powerline Homeplug receivers...

OT lang: @vern: ngano dli man working ang uban smileys?...

in my opinion, just like what DSL can deliver... Power lines are copper wires.

Yep... thats exactly how it is... the point here is NOT the speed... but the conveniency of not having to think about too many wires...

UPS on each outlet ... what about the wires that run through the house?
