Red face need inputs.. connecting through wifi

    I have a motherboard nga aduna'y WiFi..

then by next week, my dad's gonna bring us 3 laptops..

I have a question, kanang, unsaun nako og connect sa 4 ka stations? (3 laptops, 1 desktop)

I'm gonna use the wifi though.. aron di na mi mahasol sa CAT5 cables..

Bridging the network, LAN + Wifi, would do fine?

or kinahanglan pa nako'g scripts / programs for this?

Or I'll setup my WiFi, put some securities and auto DHCP..? Bridge it or di na?

I havn't tested the WiFi fully katong nag OJT pa ko sa school namo..

but I'll be buying a WiFi router pero inig august pa.. (basin di na need if ok amo connection)

    XP akong OS..

    need some inputs/ideas..

    thanks daan sa motabang..

you can connect your desktop via LAN and your 3 laptops via WiFi (assuming you're gonna buy the wireless router with LAN ports) or you can connect all 4 via WiFi.. not much difference

bale, ako pasabot mga bro, kay ang akong Desktop PC mahimong access point sa 3 ka laptops.. in which kinahanglan naka-on xa para naa'y internet connection. If butangan man gud og CAT5/LAN cables, hasol, samok tan.awn especially sa room nako gikan ang connections.

I'm planning to buy a wireless router para didto nako itaod ang internet and dili na mag salig sa desktop pc for internet.

But for now, my question from the first post is that, since I have a wifi builtin sa motherboard, ang iyang configuration is, naka Bridge xa sa akong LAN nga naa'y internet..?

or maka-connect sila sa internet if DHCP akong wifi without bridging..?

    > the way I understand your situation sir, your asking if you can make your desktop pc broadcast your internet connection wirelessly and that your 3 future laptops can just connect to the wireless broadcast from your desktop? ergo, mao ni nga set-up: ISP's modem/router ----> desktop pc ----> 3 future laptops?

kung mao ni imong ganahan sir, imo himo-on access point imong desktop pc, wala gyud ko sure kung pwedi ba ni siya but it does seem possible... murag pina internet connection sharing nga wireless kunohay... pero not sure lang unsaon ni...

    > pero kung mopalit man diay ka ug wireless router, dili nalang ka maproblima sa set-up nga imong plano buhaton, desktop pc being your AP... imo nalang e-set-up imong wireless router para mao nalang mo broadcast sa imong internet... i believe PPPoP imong connection karon mao nag huna2 ka nga ang imong desktop ang imong himo-on pina server/AP kunohay kay siya man mo-connect sa internet before niya e-share/broadcast ang signal... ayaw na kabalaka ani kay basta naa kay wireless router, pwedi raman nimo e-set-up nga ang router nalang bahala ug dial sa imong PPPoP nga connection... ang imo nalang kay pag set-up sa username/password ug uban details sa imong router and it should connect by itself already...

ergo, mao nani imong connection inig human: ISP's modem/router ---> wireless router ---> 1 desktop, 3 future laptops

PS: most wireless routers have 4 lan ports as well so you can have your desktop connect to the wireless router via an ethernet cable...

@MeMing, thanks sa imong input.. yap.. for now, akong setup kay ISP's modem/router -> Desktop PC (acts as an AP) -> 3 Laptops.. dugay pa man gud ko kapalit wireless router coz wa pa kwarta.. nag tigum pa man gud.. hehehe.. your explaination is enough for me to understand and how to go about my setup..

thanks sa uban inputs.. I will experiment on this next week..
