I completely agree, not to contradict myself but this subgenre of punk (or better yet now a main genre) has a lot of respectable artists...

if that's how you want to express yourselves then so it be but make sure that you're not over doing it. globalj is right, its by preference just like hiphop likes to wear baggy clothes, emo likes to wear girls skinny jeans, and just like metal dudes like an all black outfit...

yeah its a matter of preference

i even found myself listening to new stuff from a skylit drive.it's actually good, even the whiny girl-like vocals compliment the song. mishmash naman cya of a lot of other genres
sa emo,so that's why a lot of kids like them.

In a 2003 interview by Mark Prindle, Guy Picciotto of Fugazi and Rites of Spring was asked how he felt about "being the creator of the emo genre". He responded: "I don't recognize that attribution. I've never recognized 'emo' as a genre of music. I always thought it was the most retarded term ever. I know there is this generic commonplace that every band that gets labeled with that term hates it. They feel scandalized by it. But honestly, I just thought that all the bands I played in were punk rock bands. The reason I think it's so stupid is that - what, like the Bad Brains weren't emotional? What - they were robots or something? It just doesn't make any sense to me."

i hate emo bands coz theyre not real musicians, theyre shallow and honestly i dont get why they needa dress the way they do...i think they wear too much eye make-up than me bwahheehe they should care more bt their muzic and not how they look...

sa ako opinion ang gipasabot sa ia gisulti siguro kay ang emo daw maski unsa pa ang music mapa.reggae, rap, punk, ug uban pa kay naay emotions ang iyang kanta or lyrics...diba "emo" kay gikan sa word na "emotions" or "emotional" siguro..so tanan emo...kay naa may feelings, angry music, happy music, ug tanan..di man siguro emo kutob ra sa hilak2x ug laslas2x...pde man ka maghimu ug kanta na grunge or metal or unsa ba na naay lyrics na slash wrist and the likes for example...kay kung way feelings or emotions robot diay tanan, then how can you create such music if you're a robot...

I'm not with the emo fanatic side or whatever, i just hate those people who got destructive criticisms much and being a know-it-all and i-hate-emo, i-hate-punk, i-hate-blah blah blah...it's a shite!
if you feel hate then you yourself is an emo...coz you've got the "emo"tion of hatred..
