There is a new guy in town. His name is Cholo Laurel, the man behind "Nasaan Ka Man". Give him and many other people like him a chance.

A chance that would definitely take ten years. True, there are many fresh and incredible behind-the-scenes talent like directors, producers scriptwriters, production designers etc. everywhere but most remain in the commercials/advertising where let's face it, there's more money. Those who go into entertainment have a long climb ahead of them, it really depends on their product's performance. Some leave that industry angry, disgusted, and disillusioned.Originally Posted by Blongkoy

And there is the 'bata-bata' system. You got to have some powerful figure to back you up. And the bottom-line of it all is money.
Though Cholo Laurel shows much promise, let's see how his first 5 films fare out in the box-office and then let's see if he could break the mold that traps so many of his talented predecessors in the Manila industry.
Let's wish him and all the best!

How about let's talk about the state of a more immediate problem: Filipino TV. Are the shows designed to decrease the IQ points of its audience?! Television at its most evil!

You know there was a time that the local industry was able to release three films a month(makes 36 movies a year).. and now, its more like 6 to 10 a year... just check out the entries to the FAMAS of that particular year....
Budget constraints are an issue but I feel that the people in the film industry are either getting too old or too lazy... the infusion of new blood isn't going in fast enough to help the industry get on its feet since the many of the senior citizens hold much authority.
And isn't it just silly when these seniors try to produce something groovy and hip for the younger audience... man, its just like watching my grandma dance to Chiara or Nelly... God, it isn't pretty...

Yup. 10-12 man to ang gihisgot nilang Peque Gallaga kaganiha but it's close. Not really well versed on this.
It's time to decentralize the entertainment system here in the Philippines... Manila is the political capital, business capital and alas, the entertainment capital... once we are able to solidify the film base here in Cebu and Davao, proving to producers that incredible and unique talent lies in the South, at least there will be a variety in the filmfare. Of course, as pnoize2k4 always says, it would take 5 to 10 years... but what is important it has begun!
