r/brey, imong discription sa emo overused na kaayo na kapila na ko kabasa mga ingon ana, pero funny bya cya.. pero dili man gud cya mu reflect sa whole emo lifestyle/music, its just like saying gansta rap music/lifestyle is all about are weed smoking and gangbanging, which is not true, there more to gangsta rap and also there more to emo than just that. plus i think ang sugod ra sa emo-hate stuff kay listeners ra sad ug emo, self-deprecating humor, just a guess...

of course theres more to everything. like theres more to MTV than deciding whats cool or theres more to emo music than writing heartbroken, deep, metaphorical lyrics. sure you can say that, whatever. but thats an easy scapegoat. another easy scapegoat is saying "emo music is not all taking back sunday or all those mainstream stuff, theres loads of underground stuff thats way better". heres the conundrum, bcoz culture dictates whats cool, and right now being mainstream isnt cool. thing is people go mainstream because they're way better than the others. they rock better and they sound better. in the 90's you started underground then moved up the higher levels if you were worthy. bands like the smashing pumpkins, nirvana, soundgarden did that. underground credibility was important. but so was getting famous and making your music be heard the world over. now everybody wants to be underground coz they feel it uncool to be mainstream which is just pure bullSh*t. if you're good you make it to the top, if you're bad then you don't go up.

    ezra: thanks bai...

r/brey: ur trying to compare the progress of 2 different genres bro. that is just like comparing oranges and apples man... and it's not about mainstream or underground or being cool or not... it's about keeping the ur identity as a band. say for example greenday... mainstream sila even before but i still like them and most people would agree with me.

i'm just not getting you... what has grunge got to do with emo? if you dont like it then fine... but you just can't say strong words against it just because the progress of emo and emo as a culture is so much unlike the progress of grunge/alternative and it's culture. there is no comparison and there is not competition.

emo is evil. emo is awesome.

"grunge" and "emo" are two marketing words but music-wise, imho, they are two diff. bananas.

grunge has got nothing to do with emo, thank god or thank buddha. but to bottomline it all, i just hate emo music(current), plain and simple. from the image to the attitude to the melody(if there is one) and lyrics. i guess im just blowing my opinions out of proportion but i think the current trend, especially with this type of music, is just what degrades rock and roll. there have been many articles of why music is so bland and mediocre now compared to the rock of the previous decades, and they blame it on digitation or purpose or plain talent or some other things. they might not be all true, but as you hear rock music now, it just might be.

@shoeless_rebel: yeah, i agree. genre dropping sucks. music is music.

@ r/brey: u don't like "emo"? fine. it's ur choice. and telling u to dig deeper to post-hardcore is none of our business.

im still surprised beyond belief why people spend much of their time hating something that doesn't like. i mean, i don't like rob thomas, personally. but i dont mind. am i suppose to hate him? and why?
