    try to study or teach in Cotabato City and you'll say that what they have in the US is nothing! my high school classmates bring guns and even grenades in school, our security guards don't bring shotguns or pistols as firearm but a M14 or an AR15 assault rifle. coz we frequently have RAMBOLs in school against psychos from other schools who attacks us outside the campus after class. and our guards won't hesitate to shoot them crazy kids.

    @LytSlpr

    Easier to acquire a firearm in the US? I beg to disagree. We can agree to disagree.

    You mention statistics and then say "mas daghan gyud ug tinuod nga yabag diri" in the same breath like you had facts on both. It's funny how you don't feel safe in Chicago as if Chicago had a bunch of mentally disabled people roaming the streets of Chicago when in fact you should be more fearful of deliberate or accidental gang violence, etc. Then you turn around and compare the violence in the Philippines as acceptable because somehow it had a purpose to it, when if you could equally turn around that gang violence is purpose in itself. The 90s and violence in Chicago might have showed you a lot of "reasons" for violence not to mention that you were talking about the US, your experience and fear in one city doesn't say anything about other cities. I don't lock my door at night. I don't lock my car at night. The devil's advocate in me says you need direction in your argument. Generalizing and putting down all encompassing opinions because of remote incidents and experience in a small geographic environment does not win an argument. The US is not composed of LA, of Chicago, of New York exclusively.

    funny thing you should say that because shooting incidents does not happen in illinois alone, it's from all over. i just compared chicago to cebu.

    i said it is easier to acquire a gun here because there is a thin line between legal and illegal. in the philippines, it's only the corruption that makes it easy.

    BTW, corruption aside, the Philippines have stricter gun laws compared to the U.S. and it i not as easy to acquire a loose firearm in the philippines now compared to before.

    i never heard of anybody in the philippines shooting people in a mall, or a man killing his entire family or a wife killing all her children because og post-partum stress, or a student who went on a killing rampage because he was dumped by the girlfriend, fired from mc donald's and the other suffered from racial and social discrimination or psychos kidnapping little children raping them and shredding them to pieces or a maniac kidnapping women, storing them in his basement and raping them even they already dead.

    probably my earlier statement was a bit sweeping but i do hear these in the news from time to time and i always hear of a crime without any cause too.

    i think it has something to do with the lifestyle or society or culture here, i don't know.
