GeForce 6500 @ 256 MB..
Found another post in anther thread. So apparently it IS a driver issue which may someday be fixed.
I did the following and it FIXED the problem. By "fixed" I mean that the monitor is now running in "native" resolution. It is VERY obvous. Now I can test XP and Vista in dual boot.
1. NVIDIA Control Panel > Display > Manage custom timings.
2. Click both "Treat as HDTV" and "Allow modes not exposed by the display"
3. Click [Create...]
4. Under Custom display mode values:
Horizontal desktop pixels: 1440
Vertical desktop lines: 900
GDI Refresh rate: 60
Bits per pixel: 32
(don't have "Interlaced" checked)
5. Click [Advanced >>] (by the way this is where I didn't go when NVIDIA emailed me)
6. Under "Back-end parameters":
Timing standard: DMT
Desired refresh rate: 60
(the rest of the fields are grayed out)
7. Under "Front-end paramers"
Scaling type: Display (none)
8. Click [Test]
9. Click [OK]
This technique worked for me with ONE exception.
When using Windows Explorer to view the contents of my hard drive, the character/letter color will vary from black to red with some ghosting of either red on a black letter or black on a red letter. Also noticed this effect in the contents of this post, mostly with the "[ ]" symbols, but not as bad. But the text is sharp and clear.
This artifact is not evident with color images or regular text documents or pdf documents.
The monitor information panel now displays the correct settings of 1440 x 900, 32bit, 60hz
This is a step in the right directionThank you keithim
here you are bro. i just saved this from another forum. naa pud to la-in istoryan gahatag nako ani. this is what i used to solve the problem i had with the monitor but im not using this anymore because with an updated driver, di na nako ni kinahanglan. im not a hundred percent sure but try lang if it might work for you.
Originally Posted by ajol
