compatibility issue ni bro between your CD/DVD and the drive
factors of unsuccessful burning..
# If the CD is of BAD quality, the burning WILL NOT EVEN START. When you put a CD into the drive (writer) the first processes it will do is the INITIALIZATION; which means, it checks the CD if it is writable or not
# The CD will be ejected IMMEDIATELY and CANNOT be detected as blank recordable disc (please refer to the ERROR message)
* That is why we let our customer HAND PICK all the CD's they want to buy, eliminating chances that customer will come back and complain to us that we have sold to them scratched or defective CD's.
Writer Quality
* Brands are a big factor; small unknown brands are known to NOT have the FIRMWARE accepted by the writers, thus making the COMPATIBILITY low. Writer does not recognize CD's that are not authorized by the writer company.
A good example of this is BRAND A writers are compatible with ALL blank CD's even if it's only generic, while an unknown BRAND B or BRAND C brand writers are choosy of which CD's it can write with.
* Non-payment of PHILIPS license. As everybody knows, the CD is invented by PHILIPS and every CD manufacturer pays license to PHILIPS. The writers and CD-R manufacturer who did not pay the license, they will not be able to WRITE on the CD because the writer will not recognize it. (Please see website above for the list of PHILIPS licensed payers
http://www.licensing.philips.com)
Writer and CD Compatibility
* Some brands of writer are not compatible with certain brands of CD. That is why if the customer EXCHANGES the CD-R with NO SCRATCH and NO BURN, WE STILL EXCHANGE them. Because the CD may not be compatible with his/her writer but it WILL be compatible with someone else's.
Buffer Size
* Buffer Under Run is the most famous ERROR in burning of CD (90% of unsuccessful burning)
* Buffer is the internal memory of the writer (CD's don't have buffer thus the error is not by the CD but by the writer). For example, for Yamaha 16x writer the buffer size is 2mb while PLEXTOR brand's buffer size is 8mb
* The smaller the buffer, the higher the rate of unsuccessful burning
* In the image, you can see there's a gauge for the buffer size, if the gauge is full or the GREEN button turns RED it means buffer is full. You have to re-boot your system for a clean buffer for burning.
Writer Age
* A typical home end-user writer has only a life of 1-year with a maximum of 2-years.
* A pirate who uses the writer for 24-hours has only a life of 2 to 3-months maximum.
Writer Condition
* Dirty lenses
* Even if your room is dust-free the micro particles still get inside your computer; the best way to see this is look at the tray of your CD ROM (see picture on the below)
* Scratched lenses due to improper cleaning of lenses
* Never use CD cleaners for cleaning lenses of writers or readers, especially those with BRUSHES like in the picture. The brush scratches the lenses permanently (which the manufacturer of your writer wont warranty because this is user-negligence). The best way of cleaning lenses is air-cleaning.
System Condition
* System is the Operating System that the writer is using.
* Windows systems are known to be always HANGING or CRASHING.
* If your Windows is always CRASHING, chances are, 80% of your burning will not be successful, Re-formatting of your system is recommended.
* There are a lot of systems that the writers work with that does not have system problems, for example NOVELL, UNIX, DOS systems. Disc Juggler offers burning of CD's under many systems, not just the Windows system.
Memory Size
* The higher your memory size, the higher the success rate in burning your CD
* With higher memory size, multi-tasking of your system will be allowable when you are burning. But it is best recommended that when burning, do not multi-task, for your systems resources will run low.
Burning Software
* There are hundreds of burning software in the market today some GOOD some BAD (please refer to the list of burning software with ratings from worldwide users from the internet).
Virus
* When infected by virus EVERY task for the system goes crazy including CD burning.
* So it is recommended that when infected by virus, CLEAN the virus before burning again.
