is it cheaper ba ang eggs? my main source of protein comes from canned tuna(in water[20g per 100g and a can is 184g totaling to 36.8g of protein per can] @P28+ toh before but now i've switch to bicol express[31+g of protein for 155g] P15~P17+..) and meat..

    a dozen of egg(white) is around 43.2g of protein @ P58~P60/dozen

honestly purag puol2x na bya ang canned food and in the long run it's not healthy.. protein shakes are ok but compared to whole food.. purag kulang gamay sa nutrients.. pero mas convenient gud ang shake...

    btw.. protein bars.. too expensive..

try sa healthy options sa sm, pwede ra ka makapalit ug menudo didto, you can actually select different products para makahibaw ka unsay mouyon sa imong body mao i recommend menudo lang sa, anha na palit ug bulto kun makauyon gyud ka sa product.

other alternatives kay whole wheat bread, chicken meat without the skin (bad cholesterol) and egg whites (again the yellow is also bad cholesterol). fishes had protein also but not as much as the chicken, taas man kaha ka ug uric acid so stay away from beans basin mamurot na imong tiil, hehehe!

just bear in mind that protein is just food for the muscles, ganahan man kaha ka magpadako so you have to take enough carbohydrates pod para naay i-burn imong lawas nga calories. during work-out you are burning both your fats and your muscles mao kinahanglan gyud ka ug protein pod.

i don't really count how many grams of protein i get each day, bro but i try to have some in a day.. i'd bring around six boiled eggs to work and eat both the white and yolk... it's actually cheaper if you think about it having them as food than your usual mid morning/afternoon snack.. why i eat the yolk when its loaded with cholesterol? i've read somewhere it is the good cholesterol.. have to research it again to post the info here..

anyway, read this info in another forum:

1 gram per lb of bodyweight is not necessary even for hardcore lifters.

All that matters is total calorie intake. In fact, an excess of carbs is more important than an excess of protein. At least, in the case of carbs, the excess can be stored as glycogen in the muscles and liver. In contrast, excess protein has nowhere else to go other than fat cells.

Yes, you all read this correctly...excess protein intake is IMMEDIATELY CONVERTED TO FAT!

This is why people eating too much protein, competitive bodybuilder or not, cannot lose fat. Most competitive bodybuilders gearing up for a competition take growth hormone, trenbolone, T-3, DNP, etc. But, of course, lying bodybuilding rags and their corresponding websites fail to include this critical portion of information that would allow for excess protein intake and still allow them to lose weight or maintain strength. Us mere mortals do not fall under the same guidelines/rules for obvious reasons (most of us do not take these compounds).

So excess calories is more important to muscle growth than excess protein. When you take in excess calories, you create a positive nitrogren balance in the body. This builds muscle.

I've known several individuals on a low-carb diet who weigh 150lbs and intake at least 200 grams of protein per day. They cannot gain muscle or strength, and in some cases lose both muscle and strength.

The moral to the story is that protein intake is not the most important factor to gaining muscle....it's total caloric intake and a positive nitrogen balance created due to said caloric intake. Remember that the body can recycle non-essential amino acids or synthesize them out of carb sources (especially true in the case of glutamine). This can only happen with an excess of calories.

I can go on and on with this, but the moral to the story is that while SOME protein is fine, TOO MUCH is TOO MUCH. And for those taking 1 gram per lb of bodyweight on supplemental protein ALONE and trying to gain significant muscle, said excess protein is probably making you fatter than it is making your muscles bigger and stronger. This is due to the fact, as I said earlier, that excess protein that you body cannot use is stored DIRECTLY as fat in your fat cells.

Recent studies have shown that consuming more than 1 g/lb. bodyweight of protein does not induce additional anabolic effects.

ang ako na hibaw.an is too much of anything will be fat... extra protein will help increase the metabolism... mao mga bodybuilders especially sa ilang contest diet.. they eat protein, almost no carbs and fats... and a day or two before the contest they don't drink water anymore.. they eat it.. from fruits and veggies.. but after the contest.. grabe tingali ang pakal..

as long ma sulod lang ka sa caloric intake..

    iratio lang.. 60% carb, 30% protein, 10 % fat
for a 200lb man that's 300g of carbs; 150g protein ,22g of fats per day
assuming eating 6 meals a day.. that's 50g of carb, 25g of protein, 3g of fats per meal

i've also heard of the 40-40-20 ratio is also good...
    same gahapon for a 200lbs man eating 6 meals a day that's..
that's 200 grams of carbs & protein 100, 44grams of fats per day

you can tinker the ratio to what suits you... and sometimes you can mix the two.. high and low..
33 grams of carbs & protein 7 grams of fat per meal
