CF drivers still have issues. Same as SLI. This is the reason why I probably would never buy into the Dual Video card setup.Originally Posted by brown_dog
Yep currently even 3870x2. has some issues. ATI is currently working on these problems, seems to be game specific problem will have to wait before they fix those issues with specific games.
You cannot base the CF configurations performance on those benchies since they are based on old drivers.
Please do show me these great results as im very interested in seeing a current generation from ATI/NVIDIA that can actually run crysis decently.Originally Posted by brown_dog
Driver 7.11 was used, Is that version that old compared to 8.1 ?
Great improvement when AA and AF is turned on.
and thats a great result when comparing a single HD3870 ati card to a CF HD3870.

Good results on improvements w/ high resolutions and AA-AF turned on.

Great improvement as well when AA and AF is turned on comparing single HD3870 and CF HD3870.
Currently crysis can go averages 30-40 fps very high detail on CF.
Here we go again you posted this before about this Crysis performance stuff of yours, Have I answered this wait for crossfire x or quadfire reviews before we can see good results.
I can say Drivers are defineatley getting better for CF If ATI will continue to release new drivers.
IMO, AA-AF implimentaion for ATi cards is its weakness, especially in the current batches of releases...in your link, it shows that both crossfire 3870 or 3870 x2 were beaten by the 8800ultra at AA=4x and AF=8x at crysis... something's terribly wrong... considering isa ra ka card ang 8800ultra.
And to think the 8800 series is almost 2 years old, why cant ATI fanboys face the fact that ATI sucks this time around ?
The AA performance in the 2900 and 3800 is a let down, but be the diminishing returns of having 320 low clocked shaders as compared to nvidias 120 but higher clocked.

Anyway, I think the 3870X2 is the current top card (tom's hardware), but the lead it has, is not really impressive, if not impressive at all.

http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/01/..._2/page15.htmlIn Call of Duty 4, the two cards are quite close overall, but in the end the 8800 Ultra manages to keep the lead. One has to admit though that the 3870 X2 only manages to get 31 to 34% better than the HD 3870, which isn't really enough. The superiority of the 8800 Ultra isn't too obvious, but it does manage to reach 11%. For the first time, the little CrossFire managed to significantly outdo the HD 3870 X2 (up to 25%), which testifies to an optimization problem related to the drivers (and the new ones don't change a thing)
From other benchmark sources the 8800 is still faster per frame basis on the 3870X2, but if the 3870X2 is price a lot lower then we have a winner BUT the winner is still depending its CF technology, its like paying for a hardware that 'might' be faster.
