This US economic slowdown is a wake-up call for the world economy; we should stop depending on the US for everything! I guess we should start switching our foreign reserves to the Euro and such. Probably the next president won't do such a poor job as Dubyah, who knows.

If you are an investor then this is a good opportunity when there are more bloods on the streets.. just diversify on where you want to invest... I think you can feel more on the said "US recession" if you are actually working here.. you are expecting to work more and pay more with the same income and prices are going up like the price of gas.. lotsa so jobs are cuts.. you can see this in the news lately like Citicorp.. then unlike 3 months ago your $1,ooo is worth about $845 by now.. the feds are announcing some tax refunds lately.. but not much of a long term solution.. hopefully this can turn around before end of this year or early 2009 after the election.

Regarding the stocks reaction to the world, of course the US economy is one of the world economy drivers but we are also looking at fast growing economies like China and India which I think can balance on what is the econimic state of the US.

It is in everyone's best interest that the US continue to be the world's richest nation. Let's hope Bush doesn't so anymore damage until it's time to boot him out of office.
