I agree to that bro Centos. Cost-effective solution at its best. Got one before. Mail server, Primary DNS, Net gateway, Firewall in one server. All-in-one box. he he he. Magloko gani ako server, it gives me one hell of a headache.

Oh by the way, i miss to say that a down DSL does not only mean that the modem is down. One scenario. The modem is alive but no net access. culprit? Its the ISP's DNS server that had some problems.

    -dsl line 1 to router to switch(a) to clients (1 - 10)
-dsl line 2 to another router to switch(b) to clients (11 - 20)
    * how will put all these in one network [ connect switch(a) with switch(b) ] ?

Sakto.. nya murag katong akong recommended nga keepalive script won't help kay what if ma ping ra gyapon ang ISP's DNS pero ang problem kay di diay ka resolve.

Solution: kalot sa ulo bsan dili katol

edimax active-active load balancing does the same. it asks you for a public IP address where it will periodically ping and make this as its basis of a live or dead dsl link.

not a fail safe solution still.

Why not used the RV042 LinkSys Router. This is a dual WAN router. It has the feature of Smart Link Back-up and Load Balancer. For the Smart Link Back up feature, this is how it works. We have to choose which WAN is to be the primary. If the WAN1 port is set to primary then WAN2 port is the back up. If WAN1 drops internet connection, it will automatically tries to connect every 5 seconds, after 30 seconds of trying and still dropped. Then it will automatically goes to WAN2 for internet connectivity. If WAN1 is alive again it will back to primary even if the WAN2 is stable. That's it.
