This is another observation of mine.

Filipino movies, particularly those currently floating on the mainstream, are now becoming long commercials. To help generate funds, producers invite companies to sponsor their films and promise proper exposure for the company products in the film.

Before it used to be a casual thing, like the couple dines out at a JOLLIBEE branch or shops at SM. Now they're really pushing the brand name straight in your face and sharing all the great things about the product so you won't forget.

Such examples are IMUS Films' AGIMAT (product: Lemon squares), Star Cinema's BCUZ OF YOU (GLOBE, Samsung cellphones); I know there are others, the most current is the Manila Filmfest entry ENTENG KABISOTE where ARIEL laundry soap products seem to be the principal sponsor.

Now, now, please don't consider this as only a Filipino thing. This is worldwide film phenomenon. Especially in Hollywood though the display is subtle and sometimes near-subliminal like MI3 (Nokia cellphones), TOMB RAIDER: THE CRADLE OF LIFE (Panasonic)

One cannot make something out of nothing~ like anything, a film needs people, effort, time, talent and of course... money.

There are a few film producers these days that would risk the money (numbering millions usually) in making films because the returns are not predictable unlike in Television where the money lies in commercial endorsements.

Read how money-related issues are affecting the current output of Philippine cinema today.
