i think the sampled photo is not as blurred as you meant to be.
maybe there's slight misfocused but in general it's quite ok.

i forgot exactly what pages in the manual, but Canon itself suggest that you
have to apply certain amount of USM(unsharp mask) on the post in order to mimic a certain sharpness that you're expecting.

try applying unsharp mask with the following values:

    Amount: 150 - 230%
    radius: 0.3-4 pixels
    threshold: 0

Unsharp Mask is a feature available to Photoshop since version 2.5
    am not sure with Elements.

the above settings is for photoshop only.

looking at the resized photos... i don't see any problem here... its f/4 so small back-focus wont affect... and yes, the 50mm 1.8 II is sharp at 2.8 down...

that means okay lang my lens? or the probs is not visible on f/2.8 down...or because the lens is not high quality...hehe pasensya na im new to this thing...

"Just a quick example of stopping down that oh-so-loved 50 prime. It's not a real world example, however it does give you a rough idea of the potential! These are all 100% center crops. f/1.8 may *look* fairly soft, but realize that this is VERY fine *eyelash like* detail from a bill. " - alasfair.leung
