good day to all!
we'll try to sort out all things about diskless computing in general.
this thread is for:
-you are not sure about your diskless question ^_^.
-upcoming seminars that may benefit users to learn it.
-info that is applicable to diskless irregardless of software.
-new diskless software.
-hardware requirements.
-etc and etc ^_^
for specific diskless questions, we divert to these links [we'll create new ones if needed]:

list of diskless software(s) [official links if possible]:
CCBoot - iSCSI boot and PXE boot software, network boot from LAN
OBM
| Michaelsoft | iSCSI & Virtualization PXE,LAN Boot Diskless Solution
iShareDisk - iSCSI diskless boot and PXE boot software, network boot from LAN
NetZoneSoft | Product introduction
RichTech [is there an official link?]
G-Cafe pro [official link?]
others? [give me an official name and url link]
tips n tricks:
-if your new to diskless computing and want to test it out, start with CCBoot, it has a good set of tutorials and free for 5 clients.
-OBM server can only have one instance, whereas, CCBoot can have 2 or more servers at a single LAN segment.
-CCBoot, OBM, Richtech, G-Cafe Pro are windows based softwares.
-NXD is linux based
-todo: we'll add more ^_^
--
PRO's:
-no disk(s)

-os updates/game updates are done only once on a single client.
-if you add a new unit (with same specs specially the mobo) just plug-in and it will work na [computer name ra basin i-ilis]
--
CON's:
-SERVER dies, so as well as all your units

-runs slow in 100M networks (1G recommended)
-generally limited to 1G network
-implementing LACP is too darn expensive [for OCD's only or idiots like me

]
-your NETWORK is the LIMITING factor!
-speed of your client performance is directly proportional to the number of clients accessing the server
GENERALLY, you benefit MAINLY "LESSER" maintenance for diskless.
