you have an option to join a civic or amateur

civic like anang kabalikat, react or any other group that uses radio to do public service like anang emergency communicators... are considered as commercial group, hence they are only allowed to use single frequency that is allowed by ntc, dili nasad ni sila need to mo take ug exam and get licensed they only need to take seminar then they will get RLM certificate or Restricted Land Mobile Certificate, mejo pricey ang registration sa unit sa mga commercial and they are only allowed to use commercial radio... optional ra ang pagpa licensed aning civic

where as ang amateur mas daghan ug privilege ug daghan frequency allowed (depending on the license), sa amateur you are not restricted to a single frequency, you are not restricted in getting any non-commercial radio... sa amateur you can be function as a civic unlike sa civic, civic ra jud sila...

however becoming a amateur takes time and patience since you need to hone your skills and get certified... pero worth it siya...

kung experimenter ka, then amateur is for you, if public service lang gusto nimo, then civic is for you...

there are 3 amateur group diri sa cebu but only 2 i know off that is function as amateur... SCAN (DX7EVM) is amateur group but functioning as a civic... only limited to INC member.. the other 2 is Cebuano Amateur Radio League o CARL (DX7CA) the oldest amateur club here in cebu, and the Ham Radio Cebu o HRC (DX7CBU), the yougest of the 3 started last 2015, im a member of HRC. I cant say if CARL is currently accepting new member, last time i heard is they are upgrading their members para ma Class A, dilang ko sure ha you could ask diri nga thread ubay2x silang mga member sa CARL diri...

choose lang in which you are comfortable to join, you might know some friends nga member sa CARL or maybe some member sa HRC, if you are interested in HRC just drop me a PM para matagaan tikag more details... and from time to time i post scheduled orientation diri nga thread... karong Feb mag start amoa review, and mostly before sa review naa mi orientation... mostly exclusive siya sa mga member but we do accept anyone who wants to learn... though you might need to join a club jud kay required siya during application sa NTC pangitaan man ug certification..

Thank you sa info sir. Ganahan jud ko mu join sir kay gusto ko makat.on unsaon ang proper way pag gamit aning radio. Mudawat ba mo sir ug newbie? As in newbie jud sa radio, kun student pa 'kindergarten' pa ang level. Willing jud ko mu undergo ug basic training & seminar sir..
