Old thread na ni but I was doing some research on Cebu's traffic for personal consumption and stumbled on this thread.

IMHO, both third bridge and widening of Osmena bridge are necessary.

I'm also surprised there are so many here who say that it can't be widened. The original contractor released a statement over a decade ago that the bridge was designed FOR and CAN accomodate two additional lanes. How they intend to do this, you'll have to ask them. Even if expanding that were not possible, you could always build a twin bridge or another bridge beside it to accommodate the extra lanes.

Or.... last resort.... demolish the old bridge.
