Federalism. Is it worth fighting for?

Cons:
(1) It can lead to duplication of government and inefficient, over-lapping or contradictory policies in different parts of the country.

(2) It can lead to inequality between the states and lead to unhealthy competition and rivalry between them.

how is it unhealthy when taxes sent to the national government will be smaller compared to the current system?
it would mean mas dako nga parte sa tax ang mahabilin to be utilized to their own respective state...

and from these taxes, the respective states can create/better their own infrastructure...

THE CURRENT FORM OF GOVERNMENT where majority of the taxes go and utilized are in manila...unhealthy competition you say as a CON? for the current, it is...

YES...why?
i want to live to see a CHANGE in the current government system which has been since the "democracy" in manila...

Many of those Federal countries in your link are still 3rd world countries and rank poorly in corruption index, im not against change but a change parliamentary govt gives way better result than this federal system.

In federalism, rich states will become more richer because much of their income stays with them, while poor states will degrade because no national government to balance and support them.

Because their will be more bureaucrats which leads to more bureaucracy. This can lead to inefficiency and even more corruption (especially to a nation like us with no FOI law). For the same reason Federalism is also a much more expensive govt to maintain compared to the current one. For a poor country like us, this is a major concern.

Maybe Federalism is the answer to our needs, who knows. If we don't try something new we are always Robbed by the GOV.

federalism is most effective with technology-assisted presence. you might notice this sa mga federal state government.

mao ning ni limit sa atoa before that is why we settled for unitary governance to make ends meet.
these days nabridge na ang gap sa education, communication, and transportation...especially communication and transportation. time to improve our regional capabilities

Im not totally against federalism,it has its own advantage, i will only support it if we will have a FOI law first. That way we can stop the possibility having a more corrupt government.

What i really dont understand why is there so much support for federalism. If people want a less corrupt government then why Not parliamentary. Most countries who perform best in corruption index are parliaments. Or we could just pass FOI and Anti Political Dynasty law, those are actually better solutions.
Or is it just to decongest Manila? It will create another problem because other big cities like Cebu are already congested. Or is it for economic purposes? Well, we could just end 60/40 ownership clause in the constitution and then foreign investments will rise in no time!
Duterte better pass FOI law first before federalism if he wins or i will be against it.

There is nothing wrong with our Unitary system. The reason why we are poor and corrupt is NOT because of the type of government we have. Its because of those who are in the government and the gullible people who keeps voting them.
