    Default Dubai Layover Question.

    Any OFW from Dubai? Need your input on this.

    We usually go by the Pacific route in travelling to the Philippines, so this route is new to us and would be an adventure. So me and my family will have a 14-hours layover in Dubai this June, from DFW to Cebu. i did my due diligence checking online for some layover tours and narrow down my choices to 2. The Private Tour with a duration of 4 1/2 hours with the following highlights below, which cost us $50 each;

    1. 4.5-hour private layover sightseeing tour of Dubai
    2. See top Dubai attractions such as the Burj Al-Arab, Burj Khalifa and Jumeirah Mosque
    3. Ride an abra across Dubai Creek and admire the city's old wind-tower houses
    4. Explore the Spice Souk and stroll and shop at the glittering Gold Souk
    5. Delve into the city’s history and culture at Dubai Museum
    6. Relax with a pickup and drop-off at Dubai International Airport
    7. Enjoy a flexible itinerary and in-depth attention from a private guide

    Or i could take a taxi independently (or subway if any) to Dubai Mall, stay their for a couple of hours and take another taxi to Burj Khalifa for the 124th-floor observation deck, and then back to the airport. And by the way i have with me my 10 yr old son.

    Any advise is much appreciated.

    Take the Private Tour service if you wanted to visit all of those landmarks you have mentioned on your list without thinking of time pressure. If you opted to go by your own, most of those destinations are accessible by utilizing Dubai Metro (you need taxi to reach Jumeirah Mosque and/or Burj Al Arab) and make sure you travel between 10 AM to 3 PM where most of the people are doing their jobs or else expect the heavy traffic and the congested train of Dubai Metro.

    By the way, bear in mind that from Dubai Mall terminal to Dubai Mall entrance will take you around 15 minutes of your time (it'll be a long walk) and one more thing, Dubai Metro only starts to operate at 2 PM every Friday.

    I'm sure you will enjoy Dubai especially these months

    ETA in Dubai 12noon. My flight to Cebu is 2AM next day. Looks like we have enough time to see the City. We have decided to do the tour ourselves.

    Airline is Emirates. This is a new route and inaugural flight starts this March. Inbound flight to Cebu will have a layover in Dubai for 14 hrs. The return flight back to DFW will have stops at Clark (1 hr) and Dubai for 2 hours. I'm used to taking the pacific route via Narita, HK, Incheon and Guam. But this time too make it more interesting, i decided to take this route. Beside i wanted to see Dubai has to offer.
