Stephen A. Smith is a well known jim buss hater... don't even like the guy. i don't value his opinion... he blames everything bad that happened only to jim buss. if you look at the rookies that the lakers have drafted so far... even the 2nd round picks. they are actually good players. the only problem with jim buss is that he is not very visible with the media, and doesn't do a lot of interviews. that is why the media portrays him as the scapegoat.

I also think its inaccurate to say that Jim is the scapegoat. He should be the one to blame bec. he makes the final decision and nothing happens without Jim's permission. Everyone answers to him. Its not really a coinsidence that the Lakers slow demise started when Jim took over the franchise.

jeanie buss has the final say in a lot of decision for the team in general. if she decides to to fire his brother, she can... jerry buss knows his children so much, he put jim buss in the basketball operations, because he doesn't make emotional decisions with regards to the players, as often as jeanie does... emotional decisions are often poor decisions. jeanie also trusted what her father has done with the team. that was the reason why phil wasn't given any role with the team.

So they chose to go with Mike Brown instead of Phil "11 nba Championships" Jackson, then they fire Mike Brown after only five games in the regular season. Then they choose Mike D'Antoni whose style of play was one of the reasons Dwight left LA .

Jim actually blindsided Phil Jackson by hiring Mike Brown before Phil could make a decsion to return as a coach or not.
Pushing out Phil in LA was definitely an emotional decision bro. Its pretty well known that Phil and Jim clashed a lot during Phils tenure in LA.

Its a dumb move to push out Phil, whose triangle offense was perfect for a passing big like Pau and an athletic center like Dwight.
Mike D'antoni's system neutralized The strength of the roster at that time.

Jeanie Buss is the big boss in LA but she empowered Jim to make all decisions related to Basketball, so no, Jim still has the final say. in her interview with ESPN she said she just provides tools for Jim to operate and the final say still lies with him.

Ang akong point lang gyud bro kay if maayo pa si Jim Buss like what you are saying then why are the Lakers the second worst team in the NBA and the worst team in the West? keep in mind that we won the chip in 2010. So in a span of 5 years we went from perrenial championship contenders to a perrenial lottery cell dwelling team.

I love our lakers, but yes i think naay problem sa mga plans nila. Sayang ang mga last few years ni kobe, , bilib ko sa spurs organization, , ambot gi unsa nila pag manage d man ko sweto anang butanga, pero they kept manu,tp and td, and before sila mo retire they have a sure potential star player like kawhi and lamarcus. .

i have to admit, i was not happy that they blindsided phil jackson and hired mike d'antoni instead. i'm a huge fan of phil jackson. but i think that was the last decision that jerry buss made. his dying wish was to return the lakers to the old showtime lakers. they thought they would be bringing back the showtime lakers by hiring d'antoni. of course, that was a mistake because the team was not built for mike d'antoni's system.
