Hard water is water that has high mineral content (in contrast with "soft water"). Hard water is formed when water percolates through deposits of limestone and chalk-containing minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

for those having problems with hard water... this could help but i have yet to find out kay ang akong dakong problema gyud kay sa akong laundry (mag puti2x, nga murag chalk stains unya rough ang fabric maski pag naka downy na)...
salamat sa mga fellow istoryans sa DIY section for the tips and advise!
DIY 2-stage resin filter (the "not so expensive" way to soften your very hard water)...
