AMD vs Intel - Our 8-Core CPU Gaming Performance Showdown! | Technology X
Midrange card, Source Engine (loves single thread performance scenario)
Midrange card, Source 2 Engine (more multi-thread optimized scenario)
Midrange card, GPU intensive a.k.a doesn't give a crap what cpu you use scenario
______________________________________________
High-end card, GPU Intensive/Multi-thread optimized, "high resolution" scenario

Multi-GPU config, 4k reso, CPU doesn't matter scenario

So what's the point? It has been proven already that demand shifts on the GPU as soon as you start to crank your resolution. And there are certain GPUs that will most likely run out of horsepower first before the CPU does, no matter what cpu that is. Quote me on that and I will give another source that can prove that is the case. And finally, there are GPU intensive games and CPU intensive games. In gpu intensive games, most likely it won't give a fudge what your cpu is as long as you got enough GPU muscle. CPU intensive games, there's the single thread whore (remnants of the past) and multi-thread optimized games (sneak-peak of the future - longest sneak peak cause there are already quad core cpus as early as 2007-2008 and most cpu intensive game nowadays are still stuck at 2 cores w/c is absurdly ridiculous ).
