The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday arrested 180 Chinese, Taiwanese, and Indonesian nationals who were working illegally at an online gaming and call center company in Parañaque City.

"Meron pong anonymous tip na binigay po sa ating operatives at nag-surveillance po for how many weeks,” BI spokesperson Atty. Elaine Tan explained on a Tuesday report on GMA 7's "24 Oras". “Tapos nung na-verify na talaga na merong operations na nangyayari, merong illegal na nagtatrabaho without the proper immigration documents, nag-conduct na po ng operations."

Tan added that many of the foreigners either had no visas or had no papers allowing them to legally work at the call center. However, those who did have the correct documents were promptly released.

"Kung wala po silang mga proper documents, magkakaroon po sila ng deportation charge," Tan said.

One of those taken into custody was Jason Song, a Chinese national, who insisted he had nothing to do with the company. "Me in the meeting room only. That's only what I'm doing. Just smoking and drinking with a friend. If you do it in another country, you'll see the same. You can go to the office and you can meet them only using a tourist visa," asserted Song.

Probably they were hired as foreign speaking agents.

    1. why not set their base in china if they really needed to employ chinese-speaking agents.
. i think it's more sound than setting their base here in rp.
. maybe, this is not legal in china...
    2. we have so many chinese-speaking pinoys here in rp. why hire chinese/indons?

usa sad sa ako nabantayan ani nga news kay wala jud gi-mention ang name sa call center.

Bro, most of the BPO are marketed internationally so di lang mandarin speaking, naa poy French, Spanish, etc. Di lang strictly English speaking ug kana pa jud mga lisud pangitaon nga skills mao nay dagko ug rate. For example naa moy website like Lazada ba ron, unya inyo market ana di lang kaysa mga English speaking countries siempre mag hire mo ug kamao pod mandarin kung market ninyo china or nihonngo kung Japanese. Naa may mga daghan countries nga di sad gud kamao mo English mao nga we need to speak their dialect in marketing, customer service or doing technical support.

To add naa pod koy nakit-an mga Chinese speaking pinoys employed pero gamay ra kay sagad mga Chinoy kung wa ko masayop fokein man guro unya ang widely spoken kay mandarin man just like in SG.

Mao bitaw kung kinsa to gusto mag upgrade ila skills mas maau pa mo enroll ug foreign languages. Sagad offers ana nga rate sa agents naa na sa 70K pataas ang buwan.
