Default Water cooling 101 (closed loop/custom loop)

i check pero wa ko kitag guide for WCS, maayu unta ani nga thread daghan tag makamahoan

i guess daghan na mga istoryan's dri nga naka WCS na sa ilang pinangga nga rig

    pero WHY??

some say for the looks, alangan chuy kaayu ning naka WCS ta

pero, DO WE REALLY NEED IT

di jud sayun ning WCS in my opinion kay medju mahal2 ning bisyuha labi na if mag custom loop ta

if normal user ta, di ta mga powered user nga naka OC di nani sya need, pero para sa "BLING" mag WCS ta

parihas nako, excited nako mag start so in terms of choosing the parts

WHAT WILL YOU NEED??, ofcourse RADIATORS, PUMP, TUBES, FITTINGS, RESERVOIR, CPU/GPU/RAM/MOBO BLOCKS

sa ni nga mga parts, if atong tagsa tagsaon, unsay mga factors nga eh consider aside sa looks labi na pina bling2 build ehhehee

lastly, ang procedures, how to avoid leaks and what to do if during leak test, naay leaking??

sa mga experienced Water Coolers diha, please share your thoughts and experience para sa mga newbies

***READ FIRST*** Tom's HW Watercooling Sticky v2.0 - Water Cooling - Overclocking

found one guide that might be helpful sa mga starters diha nga nag pahipi lang sama nako

common QnA's for beginners guide and explanations

to add diay, i was asking for help to check unsay maayu nga starting parts for WCS, if di ta mo palit ug KIT na
so mao ni sya ang link sa inquiry thread nako (old thread)

TIP: Don't make the same mistake like I did, buying cheap distilled water on an auto shop (gitagaan ko ug acidic na tubig, pirti pa nakong balik nga plain distilled water ako need, the result, the liquid ate all copper components forming a white sulfate substance and destroyed the radiator.) , look for EK premix coolants( mine lasted for 14 months no gunk and leaks) and other verified substance instead..

First 2 months - Drinking Distilled Water + silver Coil+ 1 drop Biocide Extreme
    then EK Ekoolant blood red
then lastly nga mao nipatay sa akong loop XD ( Battery Water ) hjaha

mao ra ni akong nasuwayan, lets wait for the experts here..

another info diay, nindut gamiton compression fittings, wa pa ko kasuway ug leak ana sukad.

di ni PRO water cooling akoa, but it was fun doing it, apil ang pag leak experience

mao diay ni akong next project, tiguman sa ang parts:

for now , back to aircooler, kay pirting pataya sa akong radiator, wa na gyud mabuhi ni boss ComCam.

The main reason why I decided go to on a custom loop it is because i am not satisfied with my previous setup, i am still getting high temps on my overclocked CPU, one thing also is that I am after with the looks. Upgraditis sucks!

If you are on a custom loop setup, yes you have a point. Some users actually do prefer a custom loop it's because of the looks! It is not just mainly used for looks, it is actually helping your system to be stable by expecting low temps and getting a better performance on overclocking.

Custom loop water cooling in my own idea is mainly used for overclocking purposes since overclocking will increase the temperature as you are trying to increase the core voltage and frequency speed of your CPU. So you will be concerned on your CPU might be burned because of overclocking high temps.

Do we really need it? I think yes, it is very much helpful cooling your CPU and GPU, and expect a less temperature. So, if you are on a custom loop, the higher possibility you can overclock your CPU and GPU. If you are getting high temps, there is already a limitation for you to overclock, if you are on a custom loop it would give you better overclocking results!

Previously, I was on a closed loop watercooling, but I wasn't satisfied with the performance, I am getting a high temps on my CPU, temperature raises around 75-80C on 100% full load, we all know Haswell is not good compared to Devil's Canyon, one reason I was also a little bit worried with the temperature of my GTX Titan, in 100% full load temp reaches to 80-85C (it doesn't mean I am worried because it is gonna kill my GPU on those temps, but for OC purposes I decided to go with custom loop which actually helps a lot improving the performance of my PC because I was able to overclock already my GPU, not just that but as well with the temps I have is a great improvement.

My GPU temps, from 80C down to 50C, 100% full load on my GPU, so 30C less temperature, so better cooling + better performance = great results!

    WHAT WILL YOU NEED??
On my CPU + GPU watercooling, these are actually the parts I am using:

EK Supremacy EVO - Plexi Nickel
EK FC Titan - Plexi Nickel
    Black Ice Nemesis GTS240 XFlow
    FTW Compression Fittings 3/8 5/8 x 8
    FTW 150mm Cylindrical Reservoir
    EK DCP 4.0 PWM Edition
    PrimoFlex Crystal Clear 3/8 5/8

I am not just using a distilled water which can be purchase at the store like Nature Spring Distilled Water hahaha , i am using Triple Distilled Water (which i bought from ComCam) and a Mayhem UV Green Dye, i am also using a Silver Kill Coil (Anti Algae) ako gibutang sa akong Reservoir .

Let me share the temps i'm getting on my custom loop setup on 100% full load:

i use only distilled water. not even the "special" kind.. just grocery-ready bottles from wilkins or absolute. silver kill coils in some instances cause more harm than good. the SINGLE purpose of the kill coil is to prevent algae. so, unless your PC is getting direct sunlight, algae cannot grow. however.. since you now have SILVER in your loop.. you are now mixing metals. silver erodes the nickel plating on copper waterblocks. ive read EK denied RMA on gpu blocks due to corrosion on nickel plating because the user used a kill coil. that is also why there is hardly ever a warranty on water cooling blocks apart from defects "upon delivery" like cracks on nickel plating, mis alligned threading, shipping defects like bent rad fins, inlet/outlet ports and etc. you will never get an RMA if you corrode your block. ( EKWaterBlocks Support :: Knowledge Base :: Antimicrobial (algae) protection? )

so to make an already long story less long.. just practice proper and regular maintenance, regardless of what you use. water cooling is not a set-and-forget kind of thing. dont build a loop without a proper drain port to make life a little easier when the need arises. kung kapoyan mu ug huna huna sa maintenance, then i suggest you do not even bother getting started. look at it like a teenage pregnancy.. if you cant afford a child, then ayaw palabi habal. hehe. some users are really just better off sticking to traditional means of keeping there system in good condition.

    edit:

adding to this.. bottomline is: if you can, then do. in ANY hobby, when you ask "do i really need it?" is always irrelevant because in reality.. we never "really" do. BRUTAL TRUTH -keeping my system cool so it will last longer- or -perform better are just excuses we make to ourselves to justify the ridiculous amounts of cash we've spent for the hobby. iv'e accepted that a long time ago. kay kung "for having a long lasting pc" lang jud ang rason: i have a PC in the sala.. Pentium D. stock cooler. subject to daily abuse from my aunt, cousin and sometimes my kids. ive had it since 2005-6. still running. ive only had to replace the hard drive. even the generic PSU still kicks.

so again.. do it because you want to and can.
