no direct comparison. hd439 is closed-back. sr80e is open. the senn is also half the price of the grado. so it depends. do you want the isolation yet narrow soundstage of the closed-back? do you intend to use it frequently outside? hd439 would be a good choice. do you want wide and airy soundstage, clearer instrument separation and forward mids? grado would trump that senn in the SQ department. however it is open-back so it leaks sound in and out a lot and not ideal outside and in noisy places if you wanna enjoy your music.

2.) I listen to all kinds of music but prefer the sound of piercing guitar leads, piano solos and beautiful vocals, but not in a manner that would compromise the bass as I usually use that as a guide to determine the chords used in a song if ever I want to cover it. My question is would the said iems fit my style?
3.) The best headphones that Ive invested in was a pair of brainwavz m4s, Would buying the im 50 or 70 make any noticeable difference from the m4s that I often wear?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.
Sorry to hear your M4 broke in 10 months, they have 12months warranty where ever u got them.
Mine is still OK but its not used much, just for comparisons.
Glad to know that M4 suits u well, it really is good at guitars n strings atleast for the price range it is in.
I have not heard those ATH phones u mentioned yet.

But as for your inquiry regarding IEM that do well with vocals and guitars one IEM comes to my mind is the Hifiman RE-400.
It excels in the MID range. Some may find it flat and boring, though I hear it as MID-Centric with a bit of warmth, it also is getting closer to neutral or flat as there is not much peaks in its spectrum.
if you are OK with the M4's low end the RE-400 has lesser in quantity but has better quality and texture so you can actually hear more details in it. It's double the price of M4 but I think it can compete with much more expensive IEMs.

Meanwhile regarding durability, the housing is solid metal. I think the wires in the RE-400 look fragile.
Mine is perfectly fine for now but the material is softer than your average IEM wiring, it has that glossy look and soft feel but the other half is pretty thick and durable-looking...the jack is pretty well made as strain relief is thick.
