    @ bro mitzc,

since your HDD will contain your OS (for the current set-up), stay away from WD Green drives. they are good for storage drives but not for OS drives. maguba ni sila kun gamiton as an OS drive bisan i-tweak tungod sa mga auto2x function nya to save power. actually, you don't even need to get the WD Black... gasto2x lang na. pero, kun ang warranty ang gi apas nimo, aw, swak na sya kay taas ug warranty. dili man pud na maguba dayon ang HDD except kun ang naa nimo kay "lemon unit". if not, ma human na lang ang warranty, dili pana sya maguga... hehehe... in short, for your OS & Apps HDD drive, purchase the cheapest 7200 rpm spindle speed.

in actual real world application, dili ta maka distinguished kun Black, Blue (i'll not mention Green and Red), Enterprise drive, or the 7200 rpm drives from HGST, Toshiba and Seagate... gawas kun mag benchmark ta.

wala labot ang mga 10K rpm HDDs like the WD Velociraptor or the other brands 10K rpm HDDs. ma feel nato ang difference nila vs the 7200 rpm drives... these are not intended for desktops though... workstation class HDD ni sila. so, price wise, mahal kay corporate man ang target...

SSD is out of the discussion for now... hehehehe...

    just to add:
personally, my HDD of choice now are Toshiba's 7200 rpm HDD (2.5" or 3.5"). barato lang man unta ni kaso, diri, ning increase naman. sometimes, mas mahal pa sya sa uban brands... hahay... but, usahay, maka timing ko diri'g WD Black na barato ra... so, sa wala'y pag duha2x, piti-on dayon nko labi na, nangita ko ug HDD for OS & Apps. for storage, either Toshiba (7200 rpm), HGST (7200 rpm), WD Green/Blue & Enterprise Edition akoang paliton...
