hehe.. dont really have time to benchmark nowadays. wala pa gani naassemble balik tong akoang mitx rig kay nibalhin mi ug hotel.

1 more thing, akoang gpu diri kay gtx 660 oem ra (1x, 1152 cores) and my monitor is just 768p, insufficient to put the pentium to its knees by brute force. but previously, ive been playing bf3 and 2k14 (wala pa koy lain games giinstall kay mao lagi walay time) ok ra man ang gameplay. slight stuttering on bf3, a little annoying sometimes.

normal usage is sufficient i think for most people. for me, its a little underhanded. multiple chrome tabs + torrent + media player on bluetooth + wifi + constant internet connection issues and i find the cpu a little confused.
overall, contented ra man ko because i did not expect much from it knowing that its just a dual core cpu. its a good cpu to toy with and that is all it took for me to decide on the purchase.
for games, paired with a modest gpu, payts man kaayo sya. never tried bf3 mp, but im sure, it will concede. sa sp na lang daan, 100% usage na ang cpu at stock and 100% even at 4.3ghz. ill try to post here a screenshot of afterburner monitoring once i assemble it back. personally, di ko malipay if i see that during a game, something else is maxxed out besides the gpu. siguro kung 1080p to sya, it will be left with some spare processing time since maxxed out na ang gpu all the time with framerates that the cpu can easily handle. in my assessment it is best fit for gpus at the level of a 7850/gtx 650ti boost, considering an optimized match up for all games including cpu-intensive titles. but for common games, it is good up to a 660ti/7950 without wasting some frames (my gpu btw is a gk104 and OCed beyond 660ti, about the level of a 670).

but generally, it is really a fairly smart choice for gamers on a budget.

Pa advice lang kung naa bay di compatible ani nila nga parts or any performance hold backs. Will be my first build. will play dota, cs go, bf4, infamous: second son and other current-gen games.

Infamous second son? You need way way WAAAAAAYY better specs than that. A high-end PC can't even run Disgaea 3 more than 5fps. How much more could a ps4 game run with that meager specs?

since daghan2 jud nag recommend ug higher cpu, I thought of getting a better cpu nlng rather than getting a better board as recommended by @lloyd_joy

you just missed my point. the reason why I recommended you to change the mobo to a Z97 chip set based one since you've mentioned that you want to do OC'ing on the G3258. i also mentioned on the 1st page that if you'll buy the H81 chip set based mobo and you'll settle or buy for a Pentium class CPU, you'll be better-off to by the G3240 or G3250... ug sakto sila, the higher siblings are much better labi na, mag play ka'g FPS games on multi-player online then GFX quality nimo kay the highest sa game like Ultra, maxed out setting and on 1080p... i'll not include the 2K or 4K resolution na lang...

anyhow, the i3-4160 is way better than the Pentium class CPUs... but not OC'able ug maayo lang. sus, kun naa pa lang i3 na OC'able like its bigger siblings, nice gyud kaayo. ma OC ang i3 pero, igo ra ta mo raise sa base clock nya. mga 100 MHz more ra atoang ma add sa current speed nya kun mag OC ta. mao ni akoang gibuhat sa akoang i3-2120 sauna. don't know aning Haswell i3 kun pila ang ma OC nya. mas bang for the buck ni sya than your previous CPU choice. ako diri bro, before on my gaming rig, naka i3-2120 ko. GPU nko kay naka SLI... GTX 660 Ti and GTX 670 Ti. sa 660 Ti SLI, medyo, ok ra sya, pagawas nya almost 100% power sa pair pero, pag ilis nako'g GTX 670 SLI, medyo, nabitin kay mga < 95% GPU power ra ang gi pagawas nya. its the reason why I upgraded to an i5-2550K then OC'ed it to 4.6 GHz (current speed nya)... i did not obtain the 5 GHz OC'ed speed ani nya kay wla nako mag tweak... but, pwede ra gyud kaayo labi na, duha lang ka mem modules akoang gamiton... karon man gud, upat ka mem modules akoang gamit... maz OC'ed stable speed na na obtain nko ani kay 4.8 GHz lang on 4 mem modules. OC'ed the mem modules from 1600 MHz (stock speed) to 2400 MHz...

mention ko ani kay basin ganahan ka mag OC in the near future. if yes, it might be good na prepare nimo daan nalang para dili ka mag sige'g gasto's upgrade. if limited ang funds, aw, ang ma purchase ra karon ang palita para ma DIY ug magamit dayon ang rig...

actually ako sad jud na gi weigh if asa akong pilion nga combination jud. either pick the pentium g and go with a z mobo (ayus kay ma OC ang G and can outperform an i3 if the G is OC'd when running on games that doesn't require more than 2 threads, based sa akong nabasahan, and lastly upgradeable sya to an i5 soon and OC2 napud);

or pick an i3 and maintain the h81 mobo (mas ayus ug performance if mag online/multiplayer games ko and overall performance when multi tasking, also mas cheapo ni nga option rather than picking a better board, and i mean a z one, based lang sa mga pricelists available locally.)

truth be told, nga naglibog pajud ko sa akong decision hehe. huwat2 pa tag more advice diri beh.

HiLig jud diay ka og OC? if not, go with the i3 with the h81 board.

naa'y mga mobo other than the "Zxx" based chip set na pwede ma OC. but limited lang... call a friend ta... paging bro LordZhen... pasok...

for OC'ing, mao gyud ning ang purpose sa mga "Zxx" chip set based mobo... na ta'y full control... pero, dili pareho tanan. ang uban, until some values lang gihapon inig OC nato. this is based on the brand and model sa manufacturer... all electronic components are "not made" to be equal man gud... fact ni sya...
