lol, that's a different kind of rape. You coin that word when you're being ganged up, like playing online games.

It happens almost every week in Dumaguete. The victims are students. Some victims get killed. Most don't get reported in the media, as advised by the police as it creates bad image to their city.

If you know a rapist and he's sitting beside a school girl in a jeepney, you can't help it but get scared for the girl. Of course, you can't know a convicted rapist in the crowd, and that's the problem. We should be protected of threats that are just lurking around looking for an opportunity.

This is not about revenge or a Tom Cruise movie Minority Report, it's about getting rid of rotten apples.
If a rapist has been convicted before, like theft, or robbery, or holdup, he could be raping someone simply because he knows how the system works in jail, and he doesn't mind going back. Like I said, they're rotten, a life they chose.

It's sad for the convict that he can't get a job after doing time in jail, but that's the thing, to prevent him from going back to his old ways because of poverty, lock him up good together with the likes of him. We don't mind them making videos of them dancing in Jail or making Christmas lanterns (though I would never buy those). Just keep them away.

30 years in jail is never enough. If the rapist is in his 20's, he's out by 50. How would that feel for the victim when her rapist is out and could find her with her children in their home? And if the rapist is only sentenced to 20 years, he's out by 40. He could rape anyone again at 40. Our current system doesn't change the past, it just ruins the future more. And if you are a lawyer or a politician, please do something about it.
For starters, a person who is convicted does not necessarily mean that they are actually guilty of the crime charged. Sometimes, they just can't properly defend the accusation against them.

Even assuming that all accused who were convicted were really guilty of the crime they are charged, that doesn't mean that they all have no conscience. That doesn't mean that they do not deserve a second chance. Generalizing all convicts to be rotten apples is an insult to the dignity of a person being a human being. Criminals does not necessarily commit felony because they want to. Sometimes it is out of obfuscation or other unavoidable circumstances. They are humans like you. They deserve social forgiveness after serving their sentence. You, being part of the community, has the responsibility to also help them not to be an outcast of the society. They need the support of the community for them to live a normal life and to be able to return and integrate to the society. We are a civilized country, I suppose. I think these are not difficult to understand from a civilized citizen's perspective.

No legal system in this world can change the past. A future can be molded into something better than a "ruined" future you have in mind. It will have to happen tomorrow. There are a lot of possibilities for the future. If we confine ourselves to the thinking that all it can do is to ruin the future, then we have stopped evolving. We have become stagnant. But we are not.

Your comment and way of thinking always presupposes, under all circumstances, that a criminal will always be a criminal. But in reality, they are not. Try to talk to one, hear them, don't pre-judge them. Feel them. By that time, what I am talking about might make sense to you.

Of course, the stigma and the bad experience of the victims cannot be erased anymore. They may not forgive the convict, and that's understandable. But that doesn't mean that the convict doesn't deserve an opportunity to change.

I am not a lawyer and definitely not a politician. It is not only "my" responsibility to help the criminals who have served their sentence in jail to be able to be accepted by the society. It is all our responsibility.

Like I said in my previous post, if we really want to prevent the commission of this heinous crime, the solution starts with proper education, moral upbringing and more economic opportunities of our citizens. Except those exceptional circumstances, such as those rape committed by insane or mentally diseased person, the commission of rape is attributable to drug addiction, pornography, and immorality.

Thinking like that makes you a part of the problem as to why the same crime happens over again and again and criminals in the future don't take jail seriously. Unless you are one of these "changed criminals, you have no business being kind to them.

When a rapist has his victim with a knife on her throat and making her beg for her life by making her do what ever he says, then when he is done raping her and he gets caught, you are saying he made a mistake and he deserves a second chance? And that he only did it because he couldn't control his urges? Are you trying to make us laugh, because it's very funny.

Yes, criminals are humans too. ****ed up humans. Same as a ****ed up chicken who eats her own eggs. You like to keep those around in a hope that next time it won't happen again? And what if it will? A third chance? Do crimes need to be repeated over and over until they take up the criminal's lifetime because the courts can only give 20 year penalties for each crime since sentencing them to life in prison would be unfair to those who are wrongly convicted? Where do you get that logic, Sponge Bob?

I'll be happy if you and your family would be the only victims of these criminals when they attack again, but it's not up to me who will be their next victim. When tamed wild animals attack their owners, we can laugh and say good for them for keeping wild animals at home. But we are talking about humans, they are smart and capable of deceiving, thus making them more dangerous than the lions and tigers in a circus. All the more not to let them go out of their cage, better yet send them in the wild where they hunt and only kill each other. We already have a place like that, it's called Jail. As civilized as we are, we don't bring dangerous beings in the social club. It's a simple rule to keep everyone safe.

For sure a rape victim can move on and be successful in her career in the future. But when the topic of rape is brought up, she goes back to that moment in the past again. How do you stop that? Counseling? Some victims have been counseling for 10 years and still suffering flashbacks. These frantic women are like war freaks, they wake up in the middle of the night, they jump when someone brushes their elbow, always in full alert in fear of an attack. As the victim continues to live in fear, her rapist is relaxing in prison, day dreaming of freedom. That's just an insult to all human beings who only wanted to live peacefully. For you to condone it, you are an insult to us all.

I understood the need of proper education, the morals, and jobs to prevent crimes. But we should draw a line. That when crossed, there's no turning back. Because this type of crime can't be undone.

You felt sorry for me for not giving compassion for rapists? Like you have to ask why? I answered your points in my last comment and your reply is to read yours again? Maybe you should read mine again and reply to that so I can pick your brains on why you'd rather do something good for the rapists than to their victims.

See what I mean? It's useless answering your "points" and it's useless to answer a post by a close-minded person.
