unsa man ang OS nimo na gamiton sa NAS? if FreeNAS, pwede ra nang mga hinay na CPU. need lang ka'g dako'g system memory... make it 16 GB or 32 GB kay heavy use man kaha... para pud ni ready kun mo expand ang office. unya, better na gamitan nimo'g Intel based Gigabit NIC... either PCIe or on-boad. naa mga mobo ron na ang onboard gigabit NIC nila kay intel. example ani kay ang Asrock Z97 Anniversary, Z97 Extreme3, Z97 Pro4, Z99 Extreme4, Z97 Extreme6, Z97E-ITX/ax... then dapat, naka Gigabit speed pud ang network. on the client PC's NIC, pwede ra dili intel. oboard NIC lang gamita... kun maka kita ka'g Intel mobo, kasagaran ani nila, naka Gigabit NIC naman pud. even my Intel Atom D2700MUD and my fiancee's Intl Atom D2500HN here kay gigabit NIC naman sila...

kun gusto ka na mo pas2x pa gyud ang performance sa FreeNAS server nimo, i-tweak na sya... naa ra discussion kun on saon ni. ako, igo ra ko'g plug and play sa FreeNAS server nako. wla ko nag tweak. maximum ug 7 rigs akoang gi try ug connect ani nya then transfer to and fro ug large files then read pud... sagol2x ang ginahimo sa tanan PCs... ok ra gyud kaayo sya... akoang gi try ug RAID0, RAID1 and single drive sya... normal ra gyud ang performance... max out ang 8GB memory nya... CPU diay kay G530T, HDD: 2 x 2 TB Toshiba 7200 rpm (consumer grade), mobo: Biostar H61MLC, GPU: GT 210, NIC: Intel Gigabit NIC (limot ko's model), PSU: Antec Earthwatts EA380 (380 W), Mem modules: 8 GB (2 x 4 GB Avexir core series DDR3 1333 MHz... nag run lang ni sila'g 1066 MHz kay mao ra man ni ang native speed na gi-supportahan sa G530T (Sandy Bridge Celeron)...

sa imoha, para dili ka mag lisod ug pangita'g HW, get the G1610/1620 (LGA 1155) or G1820 (LGA 1150)... or their Pentium equivalent... or AMD's equivalent CPU/APU... or kun maka kita ka'g Sandy Bridge Celeron or Pentium pyts ni gihapon... even those old platform will do basta lang, dako ang system memory... 8GB minimum for small business... ok ra pud ang 4GB pero, kun daghan ang mo gamit or mo access sa files, basin mag kulangh then mag crash na hinoon ang server. mao ni ang problema sa uban. nag try pud ko'g 4GB sa akoa, the same ra man ang performance nila... except, ang transfer speed, mo hinay... like kun 8GB, mag average sya'g 80 MB/sec ang transfer rate, kun 4 GB ang system mem, naa na lang sa 50 ~ 60 GB/s... 7 rigs nag kulata'g gamit sa FreeNAS server ani...

pwede ra nimo suwayan usa'g 8 GB system mem (1 x 8GB module) then kun dili ka satisfied sa performance, upgrade it to 16 GB... add lang ug 1 x 8 GB module or kun quad mem slots ang mobo, you can populate it to its maximum capacity... FreeNAS server will be more than happy to utilize all available system memory...

Sipyat sa graphics, no need diay.
Bali File Server lang siya, mao nag plan ko NAS lang as Storage Over Network.

Ang FreeNas ba compatible or plug-in-play ba siya sa Windows Server 2008 Standard/Enterprise R2 (64-bit)?

Kung dual GbE ba bro, asa man i connect ang usa ka LAN? bali i LAN 1, LAN 2 lang? Will this really improve speed? Bitaw curious at the same time interested ko ani.

Wala kaha ni issue sa driver or something? Although I know usually legacy or autodetect naman sagaran ning mga LAN cards.

stand alone man ni FREENAS, no need to attach to any server.it itself can function without host.
