    Default picky eater puppy.. HELP!

I have a 5 months old chihuahua and he's been a very finicky eater. the breeder used to feed him with Petcurean's Now Fresh and when he was still with the breeder, he seems to be eating just fine, in fact kuno mangilog sa iyang igsuon but when he was already with him he seems to be eating just a few pieces of kibbles then lakaw away from the bowl then kuha napud balik to get a few kibbles then lakaw, in other word nag timi2x ug kaon. Ga gradual change ko actually niya ato na time with vitality, then tried pakaon nga all Now Fresh lang pero mao na gyud ghpon iyang eating habit. Mao pag visit nako CVD ni ask ko vet unsa best buhaton ana, gi suggest sa vet ky switch to high end dog food, mao pud gi natural balance nako, okay pa at first ky kaon sya sa pag gradual change nko pero mga 4th time to nako pa kaon niya nga timi npd balik. Tried adding water to the kibbles para mo kaon, kaon mn pero nig ma balik2x npd ug hatag, d napud. Karon ky ga orijen ko niya ky found out na murag dili nndot ug ingredients ang natural balance, same ghpon buhaton ug sigehan nimu pakaon same food or process ky d napud mo kaon.

    Tried :
    1. 30 minutes rule - sometimes mo work pero sometimes d nlng gyud sya mo kaon
    2. boiling meats or meat organs but so far akong na try chickens pa gyud, like, chicken breast, liver, and gizzard. Gi stop ni nako ky nagka diarrhea sya but karon lang jd gi try nako balik ang chicken breast lang add, kaon sya pag morning pero gnna udto wa napud.

Help ko mga bro and sis bcn naa mo ma recommend na dog food nga humot gyud ug tempting to dig in gyud nila bahala ug mahal. TIA

    Hello!

As long as your puppies weight is fine, this is not of concern. It is not uncommon for puppies to "pick" at their food, and encouraging eating for a pickier dog can result in having no options available, In other words, sometimes dogs will turn their noses up at everything, hoping for something "new".
Is the puppies weight ok? And does he/she eventually eat it? For some dogs, it can take all day to eat a small bowl of food, and others prefer to eat at night when it is quiet.

    Regards

    Michele

Hi Michele, thanks for your great response.. the weight is fine though and he eats his food but not 1 time..he gets like 3 kibbles then walk away from bowl and gets another kibble and walk away..I think I'll just continue the 30 minutes rule or make it 15-20 minutes.

Ah, is he taking one kibble and eating it at another place, or eating it on the way? Some dogs like to "hunt" their kibble, and will take a kibble away to eat it, and then go back and get another. Eating often doesn't happen all at one time.
Let me know if you have more questions

Murag normal gyud na sa gagmay na breed bro,
sa iro pod nga nag inusara, lonely walay competition
kanang minus kaayo sa activity, way exercise so dugay gutomon.
Possible pod nakatilaw na ug table food kay magpangita gyud na.

Kaning akong bugoy sauna kusog kaayo ni mokaon katong wa pa naadopt iyang kauban. Katong siya nalang usa naapektohan gyud iyang kaon. Nisamot katong gibilin nako sa akong boss, tagaan ug table food so karon hinay kaayo kinan an sa iyang kibble gawas ug saglan gamay na sud an.

Ako pod mga iro sa Cebu lahi ra kinan an katong gpipanghiktan pa sila. Karun nga gipangbuhian maglumba ug kaon. hasta pod akong GR nga akong gitipon sa mga shi tzu kusog nasad makaon.

@Petcurean he seemed like get 3 kibbles or 2 and walk away, put the other kibbles down and eat 1 kibble at a time.. when it's all done, he goes back to his bowl and gets another set and do the same thing.. however, when he gets distracted he no longer finish all the food in the bowl but instead just smell it and put his nose up and no longer have the interest to eat the other kibbles.. what i'm trying now is the 20 minutes plus the appetite booster available in the locals for kids. 1 guy recommended me to give him the appebon vitamins which is for kids. fingers crossed here but as you've said there's nothing much to worry as long as he have the normal weight of his age.

@Crinkles11 murag after mn gud nako sya gi kuha sa breeder bro wala na daun ko lain puppy or dogs gipa duol niya ky i've been away from home and been living with my aunt's house for a week ato na time so no dogs gyud sa sud, sya ra. so wa gyud syay competition sa kaon. mao tong murag na picky eater na daun sya. plus pag abot nako sa amo tungod sa akong ka frustrated ako butangan ug boiled sud.an though ako ra sya lutoan gyud iyaha ky aron walai timpla samot to feeling niya siguro buhaton nako tanan para lang mo kaon sya nya wa pd sya kaayo physical activity ky naa ra sa among sud. wa ramn nako gi higtan ky maluoy mn ko..kana ra if mo gawas mi higtan nako ky ma kuyawan ko maligsan..hehe

This is perfectly normal, and common with Small Breed dogs, in fact, my own does it! If he is not finishing the bowl of food, that mean that he is done eating. The feeding guidelines on the bag are simply guidelines, it is not a requirement that he eats all of the food. If he stops eating then he is done (provided his weight is fine)
    Good luck!
