just curious, what if magkuwang na ang mga sundalo, kamo mga airsoft enthusiasts, sugot mo ipadala sa Lanao or Mindanao and hold real guns in real combat scenarios?

Mga sir, nalingaw ko nag basa sa inyuhang discussion about sa airsofters nga ipadala ug real combat. Lingaw kay naa jud punto tanan. Share lang pod ko sa akong sentiment. Para naku kay pwede ra nga ang airsofters ang maipadala sa real combat pero pipila lang ang qualified. Mao ni ako reason mga sir, number one daghan kaayo speedballers nga mga player ug airsoft. No offense ha kay gikan sad biya ko ug speedball pag join naku ug airsoft. Ang naka problema, speedballers duha ray nahibaloan, ang mudagan dagan dayun ratrat with a pistolized gun. If you are going to bring them to a real combat, expected na jud nga dili na makadagan at the same time wala nay trigger discipline.

Ang kadtong pipila nga akoa nakaila nga qualified to join in real combat kay kadto mga ga milsim or Military simulation. Kani nga mga milsim operators lahi ni siya kadtong ga claim nga ga milsim kay para sa uban ang kamang kamang sa kasagbutan ug tagu tagu sa kakahuyan kay milsim na. No, milsim or military simulation is totally different. This a type of a game nga derived sa real world scenario, sa armed forces ani kay simunition ang gamit. Sa civilian, airsoft ang learning tool. Sa Milsim, there should be a chain of command, warning orders sent for the operation, radio communication from HQ to the operators and a team that will reenact as OpFor or opposing force. Isa pod sa pinaka importante sa milsim is team work. No one is a lone wolf, you have to work as a team or else you will surely fail sa inyuhang mission. As a team, you will learn how to read and understand map reading labi na ang MGRS ug land navigation, you have to know how to operate in total darkness, understand the concept of close quarter combat, you must know how to do recon mission without getting detected. These are only a few of what you will learn sa boot camp sa armed forces of which only a few sa airsoft community ang given ani nga priviledge.

Real combat doesn't require a lot of courage alone. If you only have courage, you will surely die. You have to be cunning, deceptive to defeat your opponent. Naa toy nag mention nga mag sniper siya, good luck to you sir. Sniper role is the most stressful ug pinaka prone to death and torture. Without proper training, you will surely die. I know this because I even started our own sniper team. I got the manual from USMC Sniper School, you have to learn how to read terrain features sa map labi na sa MGRS for calling in airstrike. You have to know the fundamentals of stalking plus the ability to shoot at a long range distance. You have to calculate trajectory, windage, humidity, etc. or shall I say you have to out guess mother nature. Dili ni siya basta basta nga role, thus needing mental toughness aside from the fact nga you have to be physically fit. Imagine yourself on a skull drag for 1 hour on a grass area nga halus parehas ra ka taas sa imuhang tuhod, and the patrol keeps on passing by sa imuhang location.

Lastly mga sir, we don't fancy ourselves nor gipasigarbo ni. To some, it may appear as sobra ra kaayo mi ka obssessed ani nga game, yes true. However, what appear as a game to some is a learning privilege for us, the skills that we learned are of essential value that we hope and pray that we wouldn't put it to use but when the time comes that we need to take up arms to defend, we are ready.

Wow, its been more than 4 years. People who share the same culture in the airsoft community would surely agree with callsyn_bigbird. I would say the answer to the question is somehow subjective, depending on how serious an airsofter is to the hobby. And here is the line from the famous movie for those who don't belong.

When I go home, people ask me, "Hey Hoot, why do you do it, man? Why? You some kind of war junkie?" I won't say a goddamn word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand it's about the men next to you... and that's it. That's all it is.


Airsofter or not, people will take up arms and go to war when their freedom are on the line. it has been glamorized in movies and television man gud. but that is one of the most difficult tasks in a military unit. a sniper is a class much different than the ordinary infantry. but then again... the movies portrays a kind of soldiering that attracts most wannabes.

it is close to useless to try real world snipering with airsoft toys. those little plastic balls can never simulate sub moa groups that builds up the skill needed for the job.

heheh, wala ko idea about sa hukad or sa 799 sir. agree jud ko nimu sir nga ang sniper role kay gi exaggerate sa mga movies. in fact, kasagaran nga ni approach naku kay gusto musulay ug milsim kay gusto jud dayun mag sniper, ako gani guilty as charged.. lol. pero later on na realized naku nga dili sayun nga role ang sniper and it requires a lot of training ug patience jud. ako gibuhat para maka learn pod mi kay gi adapt naku ang ilahang mga methods sa USMC sniper school in terms of stalking, reading sa terrain ug pangita ug FFP or final firing position, mga crawls or movements then incorporate it with some of the airsoft skills nga akoa na learn and pag train naku sa amoang sniper team, it was fun. gi focus namu ang pag read sa elevation, distance, possible elements kun clear shot ba or dili, ang weight sa bala, wind, daghan pod gi consider. we were hitting targets at 40-50 meters distance. ang mga newbies nga ni try ug sniper role, kasagaran kay gibaligya ang mga sniper rifle kay wala na ganahi kay kapoy kuno kaayo ug boring pa jud labi na ug maghulat ra ka sa imuhang target nga muabot.. lol

Ako mismo maoy mutudlo sir. Akoang role sa team is navigator. Akoy mag dala sa map ug compass then mu plan out sa amoang route during missions. We use Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) ug Azimuth reading.
