boss weblizzer, actually BT223 has much bigger surface area compare to B37 because it has bigger outer diameter of 73.8 mm compared to B37 O.D of 65.1 mm and since both have same height of 88.9 mm thus BT223 has more pleat in its filter media and bigger dirt holding capacity and much bettter filtration because of larger surface area as B37. They only differ in bypass valve setting wherein BT223 is 8 psi much lower compared to B37 of 14 psi. Considering our climate in Philippines which is tropical country 8 psi bypass valve is doing good unless you are into drag racing or in very hot countries 8 psi bypass valve setting is not ok. But which one can get choke or clogged early of course B37 because it has lesser surface area compared to BT223. That is my opinion only, im not an expert in this field though pls pardon me....

The BT223 is a mixed media filter filters (called microlite) 98% efficient at 12 microns which is 3 times better than OEM it will also hold 3grams more dirt particles and last long. Tough little filter great for Toyotas. I run a Baldwin B14012on my Nissan Altima, oil is considerably cleaner looking. This filter and synthetic oil will give you 12000klm easy I run them 15000klm (10000 miles) on my wife's car. Oil still looks new.

The BT223 fits all 4cly and 6cly gas toyota's and all D4D engines.<< by dvldoc a guy who knows very well about oil filtration.
