    for prime lenses, 85 1.8 and 100 2.0 would be disapointing if you go into macro photography.
    100 2.8 macro would give you the best mix of portrait and macro specially with full frame.
    for crop, its a bit on the long end but still provide great protraits but u make have to move further back
    then a 50 1.4 would be good for crop portraits and by far better in macro than 85mm. extention tubes can expand your capability with the 50 as well

    for zooms 10-22 for crop when you want to shoot landscapes.
    16-35 for full frame...although if thats off the menu 17-40 would do.
    70-200L2.8IS would be ultimate portrait zoom.none IS would do...f4 is just not the same but will do if 2.8 is off the menu.

    with these, you will have enough to keep you happy for a long long time...

    if you guys could recommend one lense lang that has the most diversity, what would it be?
    something that's good for portraits, landscapes, and macro's? naa ba?
    like MyMaria, the 400d is on my Christmas wish list.. hehe
