Forums are meant for arguments, aside from being a marketplace, which originated in the Roman Empire. The points of my argument are directed towards fallacies. I base my statements on government policies, memo, my educational background, and experiences in the education field here and abroad. Hence, your idiomatic expression is negated. Your credibility on the other hand is in question.

But, yes, interested parents, check with a homeschool provider if they are in compliance with DepEd. Such provider is the one in the link I provided.
Bottom line is, whether it be conventional schooling, Montessori schooling, homeschooling, or whatever, the large part of nurturing, molding, and teaching a child must be the responsibility of the parents. It will all boil down to the child's relationships at home.

I do agree with your last point, which contradicts with your previous statement:

Having a degree in special education myself, I am well informed that schools nowadays are attuned to the social development of a child. Being a teacher, a principal, and a school owner, I can tell you that your first statement is downright wrong. A school offers plenty of opportunities for a child to socialize with students of different age, different religion, different nationality, and different level of maturity. That's because there are a lot of students in a school. Homeschooling can only mimic that experience.

In closing, here are the issues I want to raise with homeschooling:

1. Can you furbish me with a copy of a thesis/dissertation done locally about the benefits of homeschooling?
2. Has there been a local student who topped or maybe even just placed in the board exams?
3. If homeschooling were that good, why are our children in conventional schools?

Truth be told, homeschooling belongs to the Bureau of Alternative Learning System of the Department of Education.

Hi. I am so interested on this topic. If homeschooling is being practiced in USA, would there be a chance that we can practice it here in the Philippines too, what do you think? I am a little bit hesitant when my daughter starts going to school, she might "catch" some bad attitudes of some kids. Example, my daughter doesn't really quarrel with kids. But when we had our vacation (2 weeks only) and she was playing with constant playmates who bullies other kids, my daughter learned to somehow say "i dont like you", or "we are not friends". She was not saying those words before. Dili gyud na cya kahibaw mangawai. If awayon cya, mupalayo cya. Tudluan nako nga if a kid hurts her, she should learn to push back but not to the extent that the other kid would get hurt, just so she knows how to defend herself. Dili gyud cya patuo, mupalayo lang gyud cya. But when we had our vacation, kahibaw na cya mangawai simply because katong iyang mga na playmate makita man nya nga mangawai ug other kids. That's my serious concern about sending her to school next year. That's why I've thought about homeschooling. Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Good Topic, society is poisoned by to much negative media, uso kaau ang bullying sa schools karon, bisag grade 1 pa. Tungod ni sa mga shows sa TV nga pang bata pero ang gipakita bugal2x ug pag pangaway.

This way controlled nato unsa ang e tudlo nato sa mga bata. Tungod sa negative media, almost a year na mi wala nag TV. So far ok kaau kai sa internet ra mi mo tan aw ug mga educational shows ug sa AM radio ra mi maki balita Mas daghan maayo nga resources sa internet. Ga gamit ko ug opendns para mo filter sa mga malaw ay nga web sites.


Nag huna2x pud ko ani ka ni adto. Karon nga pwede ra d i, ako e home school akong mga anak next school year.

Obviously you comment with a bias since you own a school. Homeschooling is a direct threat to your business.

I agree with points raised by chaleh.

1. "Furbish" a copy?? If I remember correctly, homeschooling is not as established here. So it's no wonder if we don't have a local proof of how it has benefited local students.
2. Probably, there are some. It's not impossible. Conventional schools like yours don't have a monopoly of bright minds.
3. Don't you know why? Because conventional schools are the norm. Having said that, it does not mean it's the best educational avenue for all kids. It's the same thing with corruption. Corruption is a norm in our country and in other countries, but it doesn't mean that it benefits the people.

Not only can homeschooling mimic conventional school-type experience, it can even surpass that experience.

If homeschooling were the norm and conventional schooling the exception, I bet you would've set up the former, and not the latter, as your business.

PH is not pa man gud kaayo ready sa homeschooling. conventional thinking ang majority, so di malikayan nga naay mga doubts and hesitations. naka-try ko distance learning before. if there is one thing i learned, it's disiplina jud.

Ang cost, much more than conventional schooling! Financially depende ra nimo, but in terms of time, effort, and just your overall involvement as a parent/teacher, it has to be all or nothing, and that's what makes it really challenging.
