I don't have any statistics to show but the proponent of the abolition of the death penalty said:

The senator maintained that the death penalty does not deter the commission of crimes since there was no significant reduction in crime statistics when capital punishment was in effect from 1995 to 2004.

“In other words, imposing the death penalty is not the solution to crimes,” he said, noting that even judges were hesitant to impose the death penalty at the time.

It is also obvious that prior repealing a certain law it should backed with statistical data.

Then an unidentified man with a hand gun came into the scene when he saw the commotion and wanted to prevent the unarmed robber from fleeing. Does this man has the authority to prevent the robbery? He didn't introduced himself as a policeman. If he is, killing an unarmed robber on the spot is mere violation of their rules of engagement. Policemen are trained to be best thinkers at all times. If the man was a civilian, citizens arrest could have applied. If the gun used was a licensed one, he may have violations too. We can never answer all these 'ifs' when there's no proper investigation.

Bottomline, killing a criminal is acceptable as long as it can be justified according to our laws. No single violator will be considered a hero. Am I correct @hamtaro.jan?

Other progressive states have capital punishment. IMO it's not only capital punishment that can deter crimes. It's the lack of living that's forcing people to become desperate. So capital punishment plus a good economy is definitely better than just plain good economy.

There were about 1200+ that were electrocuted, punished by death through firing squad and death through lethal injection.

All heinous crimes were covered in death penalty during the Ramos administration -- from murder to stealing a car -- yet there were no signs that criminality has gone down since it was installed.
