Default Offshore drilling equipment - drillship 10k

Share lang nako ang pictures on the Deepwater Drillship equipment. I will post picture kung naa ko time.

This is generally called an oil derrick and is a complex set of machines specifically designed for optimum efficiency, safety and low cost. This is used on some offshore oil and gas rigs.

The centerpiece is the archetypical derrick tower, used for lifting and positioning the drilling string and piping above the well bore, and containing the machinery for turning the drilling bit around in the hole. As the drill string goes deeper into the underlying soil or rock, new piping has to be added to the top of the drill to keep the connection between drill bit and turning machinery intact, to create a filler to keep the hole from caving in, and to create a conduit for the drilling mud. The drilling mud is used to cool the drilling bit and to blow rock debris clear from the drill bit and the bottom of the well. The piping joints sections—usually each about 10 meters (30 ft) long—have threaded ends, so they can be screwed together. The piping is hollow to allow for the mud to be pumped down into the drilling hole, where it flushes out at the drilling bit. The mud then proceeds upwards towards the surface on the outside of the piping, carrying the debris with it.

This is the Cyberdrillers chair. On the far side is the driller. He controls the Top Drive, Drawworks, Mud pumps. He is the one in control for the drilling operations. Torque, Pressure, Rotation and lowering down any tubular across the rotary table. He is reporting to the Toolpusher. Just google driller and it will explain more.
The other one nearest is the Asst. Drillers chair. He controls the Hydra racker, Hydra tong, EBT, and the fingerboard assignment. He gives the pipe to the Driller by the use of the Hydra racker then to make up the pipe he drives the hydra tong. He uses EBT elevated back up tong when the connection is 5 meters above the rotary table. All these chairs are controlled with a stick like the Atari before if you know and push buttons like the play station but it has a lot of responsibility that at times they have to call me if they need to push that button. There are a lot of risk involved so this people are sent to Norway to Cyber drilling training for 3 weeks. Once you get to know the equipment it is easy but needs a lot of time to get comfortable with. Safety first.

HYDRA TONG - This equipment is driven by the Asst. Driller from the cyberchair it is also control manual on the unit itself. It can torque up to 162Kft-lbs or 119.9kn-m a 7 5/8 reg thread. Up to 9.5'' OD of tubular. Its break out capacity is 200kft-lbs or 147 kn-m. It has a spinner that has a 50rpm. It is driven from park position to well center area which has 4.5m distance. It is usually used to RIH Rim In Hole pipes and POOH Pull out of the hole. One stand for range 2 pipes are +/-32meter/stand or +/-9.5meters/joint. This equipment is good because it's less manpower and safe to use unlike before that we use rigtongs. Rig tongs are equipment to make up and break out pipes. We still used them for BHA Bottom Hole Assembly and Especial tools from Schlumberger.

Naay Aker equipment sad Bai. Ako I'm more on NOV equipment. I can't really make a comparison kay wa gyod ko kasulay ug Aker equipment. Ingon akong uban kauban nga Expat nga daghan daw ang push button command ang Aker in one joystick mura kuno ka ga drive ug aeroplano. Ingon sila. Ang NOV equipment is just one joystick on both side of the chair have only two buttons the big top one which will give the final command to operate and the small safety button which your right and left point finger can access. Equipment can't be operate if the safety button won't be push for 5 seconds to initialize the final command.

Mao ni Hydra Racker. This equipment thus the whole thing of pick up a build stand of drill pipe. A stand of drill pipe consist of 4 joints of drillpipe that are connected from top to bottom. Once the drillpipe is made into stand they are rack back on the derrick. That's where the Hydra Racker come in handy. It will take the whole stand from the wellcenter which it is hoist up with the TDS - Top Drive System on an elevator. Elevator is a Drillpipe handling equipment. Once it is at a good height the 3 arms of the HYDRA RACKER extend which is driven by the Asst. Driller in the doghouse. They are a lot of sizes of Drill pipe from 3 1/2'' to 6 5/8'' DP. Usually on Deepwater we used 5 7/8 drillpipe because it's not to heavy compared to 6 5/8'' DP. The 6 5/8 DP is usually used for landing casing due to it's stretch of metal and the load that can carry. HYDRA RACKER has top arm as a guide, Middle arm which consist of roller and gripper. Lower arm which is also a guide. The middle arm really does all the lifting of the Tubulars. It has a maximum capacity of 8mt with max arm extend at 3.5meters. You can override the system by encoding new values but that has to be decided by the Toolpusher or the Rig Superintendent. The picture only shows the lower arm and the base of the HYDRA RACKER.

The second picture kung click nimo ang link. On the back ground kanang big blue wall is the drawworks inside. It has a 2'' diameter metal drilling line. It's used is to hoist any tubular, BHA and including BOP (Blow Out Preventer). It's max load that can be lift is at 2,000,000lbs. It's a powerfull tugger or hoisting mechanism. We cut the drilling lines when we reach to our maximum limits which we call ton miles. Usually we calculate the weight of the tubular or equipment lifted with corresponding mud weight or we call the buoyancy factor safety load. Once load is at any fluid it thus lighten a wee touch. Just google ton miles and Wikipedia does more explanation.

If you go to NOV WEBSITE naa didto ila tanan product line but they will make you a specialist in one of the equipment then ibalhin nasad ka hangtod magunitan nimo tanan. Good luck Bai.
