This issue is taking to far! But the idea of putting this transport system to CEBU is a great thing. This would lessen the traffic issues their in CEBU. I hope nga magstart nani.. Pero unta dili ang kontraktor sa MRT ang mag construct kay daghan kaau ug technical problems..
Unsay pros ug cons ani?
Can anyone whose familiar with BRT answer how theyre going to implement it along Escario St. and Gov. M Cuenco ave. (banilad road).
Currently 4 lanes ra man gud ning mga roads with commercial establishments on both sides. having this brt would take out 2 lanes.
Frankly, I don't agree with BRT... Buses are not the solution in plying on our streets that are so narrow and if wide man gamay.. daghan pud mag parking sa kilid2x sa walay pulos ang mga dalan nga lapad2x na ta...
MAS UYON jud kog LRT nalang... or in this case CRT (CEBU RAILWAY TRANSIT), an electric train *with flyover railyways spanning let say from south to North..... yes mas gasto btaw siya and mas inconvenient ug hasol if imong huna hunaon, BUT IF IMONG TANAWN LONG TERM... ang population sa CEBU nagka dako na jud... BUSES ARE JUST A SHORT TERM SOLUTION.. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A SUSTAINABLE MASS RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM nga mas efficient ug paspas or DALI... VOTE JUD KOG ELECTRIC TRAIN nalang..
Look at most cities anywhere overseas... They have trains already... efficient, fast and a real sign of PROGRESS.
@jeff_bonz59; bitaw maypa train nalang from north to south kaysa bus![]()
Agree sad ko ani bro. but the only problem is that we can't afford it. Ang LRT nabuhat sa time ni Marcos, arang2x pa man ang Pilipinas ato.hahaha If magbuhat man gani ug metro, kabati anang flyover oi! Hugaw kay tan.awn mas nindot ang underground which brings us back to, we can't afford it.
While we see BRT as a short-term solution, LRT is more not feasible to Cebu. It was known that the proposal for LRT has been rejected by four feasibility studies 14 years ago.
Mayor Rama may allow LRT in Cebu City if. | Cebu News, The Freeman Sections, The Freeman | philstar.comAs early as 1992, a Pre-Feasibility Study for a Metro Cebu Mass Transport System funded by the province and done by Schema Konsult, Inc. showed result that Cebu is not for LRT.
The pre-feasibility study done by World Bank consultants which was presented in the middle of this year showed that BRT is feasible in Cebu City including Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.
Another study for the feasibility of LRT in Cebu was conducted in 1995. The Pre-Investment Study proposed and conducted by Jefferies of the US and funded by USAID was not even completed when Jefferies realized along the way that LRT is not feasible for Cebu.
In 1999, there was the feasibility study for Cebu Light Rail Transit Project (NEDA Project ID No. 575), proposed under the Central Visayas Development Project and done by Development and Management Corporation and Cebu Engineering Development Company.
It was proposed for funding under Official Development Assistance through Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund now the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
But Villarete said it has never reached JBIC because it was not approved by the National Economic and Development Authority Board.
“What I can’t understand is why we insist on a system where a Cebuano walks more than half a kilometer to an LRT station, then climb up the stairs instead of just strolling about 200 meters to a BRT station and climbing a few steps,” he said.
Aside from the fact that feasibility studies rejected the project before, he said that there is no way it can be implemented without the nod of the mayor and the city council.
“The Local Government Code of 1991 (RA7160) declares under Chapter III, Article I, Section 25-b that national agencies and offices with project implementation functions shall coordinate with one another and with the local government units concerned in the discharge of these functions, and that they shall ensure the participation of local government units both in the planning and implementation of said national projects,” Osmeña earlier said in his letter to the Regional Development Council.
Villarete said that the city has already issued its stand objecting to the Cebu LRT project in a letter to both the Department of Transportation and Communications and NEDA in October last year.
In November 4 of the same year, the city council passed Resolution No. 09-1154, declaring its objections to the project.
budget constraints or whatever feasibilities that deems inappropriate, I still believe a LIGHT RAILWAY TRANSIT is THE ONLY Solution to our ever growing and sickening traffic jams. As they say, IF there's really A WILL, there's always A WAY. Mostly Politicians say its not feasible because we don't have any budgets for it.. .but if you just look on how many millions they've spent on their election campaigns... you would know that it IS REALLY NOT THAT THEY DON'T HAVE BUDGET AT ALL, IT's JUST THAT THEY'RE AFRAID OF CHANGE and bottomline.. SELFISHNESS to their common pockets lang ilang gitanaw.
