Default Will adding an HDD slow down my PC?

    Here's my setup:

1 x 128GB Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme SSD as Boot Drive running on Sata3
    1 x 1TB Western Digital Black Caviar 7200rpm 64mb Cache for Games/Files on Sata2

Question: Im planning to install an 80GB 5400rpm 8mb cache Hitachi HDD which is significantly slower than the original drives in my system, will this slow down the overall performance of my PC? Its an extra disk, and I plan on using it to store some photos.

    Any advice is good advice.

it may add 1 or 2 seconds on your POST time since there is an additional device that needs to be detected/tested. kung naa na sa windows environment, can't really tell for sure so the best way is to test it out...

@bim27142 LOL, I dont know pud unxaon nimo pagtest kung naa nah sa windows environment hehehe... ifeel2 lang ahahaha.. @butitoy I was thinking that since files wont be read/written to the drive since it'll be mainly used for storage I thought it won't affect it. pero I'll take your advice, sayangan man pud q ani nga ma.tambay rah gud.. hehehe..

I think NO since they are a separate/different drive and I believe each drive has it's own speed. It still depends on the speed rate on a specific drive you're using. It doesn't mean you'll add another drive, SSD3 and HDD2 will not work it's speed anymore just by adding another 80gb drive and those 2 drive's speed will be affected? i think that's not the case. I have SSD and HDD, and i can measure the difference between the 2 when I transfer the files from HDD to SSD , SSD to HDD. so I think it doesn't matter. .It's just my opinion though,.

Nice theory, but I think the speed of the other drives are not affected, but I'm not quite sure if the speed of the entire system is affected.. lets just say that maybe from time to time, the system checks the slow drive, which will cause the entire system to hang-up or become slow..

Does the OS neglect drives that is not currently needed in an operation? or does it READ/WRITE into a drive at random occurences? I dont know pud.. hehehe..
