into 7.1.1 with out changing its apple ID and now I'm struggling
how to reactivate my iphone. The unit is from US and I don't know
how to reach the old owner. By the way the unit is AT&T locked.

Hardware is in good condition and is best for replacements and repair spares.

Im a newbie in handling iphone and I consider it DEFECTIVE. but if you have the idea how to bypass it,

As far as I know, the only way to bypass this is to contact the old owner or ask help from AT&T.
