Default problem getting internet from my d-link router

    hi guys!

i'm having problems with my wifi router. a d-link dir-655. been using this router for about 9 months na. so far no problem until 2 weeks ago. my previous router (from 2009-2013) is a linksys wireless g router.

my ISP is a SmartBro canopy. I have this account since 2006 pa.

my internet signal suddenly becomes patchy. usahay kusog...then muhinay ra ug kalit. then naay times di na ko ka-connect sa net. i tried connecting the ethernet cable from my canopy directly to my computer...after the usual reactivation process, i have internet again.

i tried factory resetting the router and reconfigured it as it has always been.

    INTERNET SETTING:
    connection: Dynamic IP (DHCP)
i tried placing the usual figures on the primary and secondary dns server fields (i also tried leaving it blank)
i copy/pasted my laptop's mac address into the mac address field (under wan)
all fields (ip, subnet mask, default gateway) have their usual figures
    with admin password

    WIRELESS SETTING:
    wireless enabled
    used the usual ssid
    802.11 mode: mixed n, g, b
tied both auto channel scan & manually selecting channels
    transmission rate: best (auto)
channel width: tried both 20MHz & auto 20/40 MHz
    status: visible
    wireless security mode: wpa-personal
    cipher type: tkip & aes

i am mainly using a macbook pro laptop (os 10.6.8 snow leopard) but we also have 2 pc laptops using windows 7 & 8. i've tried working on the reconfiguring of the router using all laptops with same results. i also did the "iconfig/flushdns" command prompt using the pc.

so basically, when i connect the ethernet cable from my canopy to my laptop, i have internet. but when i connect the cable to my router, i can connect to the router/network....but i dont have internet. if i tried opening a page sa browser, i would just get "the connection was reset" message.

been hard-resetting and configuring this router for about a week na with no luck on getting internet access through it.

does this mean my router already conked out? or i just missed out something important?

thanks daan sa mga advice ninyo.

what is your internet bandwidth? trace route, speed test and ping any sites then have in print screen and email to your ISP coz the issues in on their side...

Dako og chance nga guba na ang router. Try use another one. Mas maay if naa lang sa ka mahuwaman para diLi usik. By the way, na check nimo if ang mga lights sa router kay active pa?

Try re-flashing it with D-Link's original (but newer) firmware:
    D-Link Technical Support

    OR

Open source/alternative firmware OpenWRT (DIR-655 is not compatible with DD-WRT)
    http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/d-link/dir-655

If both of these options still don't work, most likely the router is toast.
(probably got hit with an electrical surge).
    good luck.

    @HybernaTe

These are the current router brands/models that support OpenWRT:

salamat sa replies mga bro. tried some of the suggestions, but i'm still not getting internet from my D-Link Router. However, your suggestions here might be able to help others who might be having similar problems as well...but prolly lahi ang cause and might be solved by the above suggestions.

Lousy man sad kaayo pud ang signal sa akong canopy...di na gani kaabot 1mbps...mag putol2x pa gyud lately...di gyud masipyat naay 2-4hrs daily na walay internet. usahay almost halfday wala gyud. we decided na ipaputol na to namo.

I decided to shift to LTE. much happier sa speed and stability sa signal.
