Default is the GPU defective or not? need help!!!

ok mga sir i need ur help hehe, murag nakakuha jud kog defective graphics card or maybe lahi? bear with me mga master coz it is a long read...

Akong gpu sometimes pag startup naay white horizontal lines sa POST ug windows logo then dili sya maka boot into windows, then naay error recovery options mugawas like startup repair...pag iselect nako ang repair it will attempt to repair and then screen turns black then mu freeze sya dha lang kutob, so wala ko choice ireset nalang. After reseting, it MAY boot up without the lines and naay options to boot up in safe mode, start windows normally etc. etc. so i select normally and it really bootsup into windows just like it should be... OR the problem persists and reseting it again and again hoping that it will proceed creates another problem, ang motherboard muproduce ug 1 long beep and 3 short beeps and then screen displays nothing...reseting it again or turning it off/on will recreate those series of sequences hoping na maka lusot sya to windows.

My motherboard is an Asus H61M-E and upon troubleshooting the beep codes searching it online, it says i have a video card error or vram problem. Cleaning the gold plate sa gpu with an eraser and reseating the gpu sa mobo making sure it is really in place did nothing, the problem still persist intermittently.

Usahay pud naay error mugawas but inside windows interface na, the error is a "gpu driver version kernel error and it has recovered" something like that, katong mugawas sa notification area lower right corner of screen sa clock area...mugawas na sya na notification intermittently pag mag open ko ug apps then screen goes black then mubalik npud, also pag mag open ko ug 3d apps like say games while mugawas na sya intermittently, naay small artifacts mugawas pud but rarely ni sya nahitabo (twice lang ata) usually kausa ra mu notify ang error msg then wala na ok na dayun. Take note akong drivers are updated to the latest versions and gi reformat ko na sab ang OS hoping that it is my os ang corrupted.

On the positive side pud, pag maka boot into windows na sya, wala gyud sya problema smooth kaau ang performance, I can play latest games at max settings without any problems or fps slowdowns/hiccups...paspas kaau. Temperatures pud is reasonable 34-35 idle 60-78max pag under 99% load..so matingala gyud ko nganu ani man.

Im leaning towards defective gpu card and i.RMA ko unta ni siya but ask lang ko ninyu mga master coz basin pag abot dd2 dili mugawas ang problema.

    My rig setup is this:

    > intel i5 2320 @ stock clock (2years old never been oced)
    > Asus H61M-E (1week old)
    > 8gb crucial rams (3 months old)
    > Palit GTX 680 Jetstream 2GB (8months old)
    > 1TB 7200rpm WD HDD (2 months old)
    > FSP Raider 650w 80+ silver (2 months old)

    ________________________________
    recap:
    > with horizontal lines @ startup (POST and windows logo)
    > Asus motherboard produces 1 long beep 3 short beeps (signifies gpu card problem)
    > "driver version kernel error" @ windows interface
    > produce small and very few artifacts while running 3d apps (this rarely happened only twice)
All of this problems are INTERMITTENT, usahay naa usahay wala..

so thats it mga sir, pasensya taas taas gyud akong thread hehe gihatag ko lang ang tnan infos

    these are the white lines...
i hope naa makatabang nako or basin naay similar nakasugat ani na probs.

    Thanks in advance mga sir!

Quite convinced its a gpu situation you have right there. Also have a palit 680 here reference lang gud. It maxes at 73C on heavy2x games. Yours is a little hot considering mas nindot pa ug cooling ng imoha and mine here is overclocked beyond 770 speeds. Pa rma na lang na bai.

If you are feeling a little brave though pwede nimo sya iflash with a reference palit bios. That should lower the clocks and hopefully, the voltage a bit and that might solve it. Otherwise have it rmaed na lang

add: kuan diay, if ever you decide to flash it and it makes no difference, dont forget to revert to the original bios before having it rmaed.

ipa rma ko nlng cguro ni. ang ako lang sir keropi, pag mag OCCT to test gpu for errors or artifacts wala may makita na problema...gtry pud nako memtesg80 to check for vram errors wala pud...nya pag gaming, smooth kaau xa walay slowdowns...mao lang to medyo init sya under full load 78c.....usually pag startup lang jd muandar iyang problema

There are errors that cant be detected by occt or furmark which manifests during in-game, mostly sa vram. Pero gisuwayan man nimo ug memtest but at the same time ingon ka moartifact usahay. Try with vmt (video mem test).
One thing im quite sure is that it is less likely a driver issue because software issues dont manifest as errors similar ti yours.

yes sir gisuwayan nakog furmark ka 3 wala jud errors pati occt wala pud...katong memtestg80 sir vram test na sya (through forums ko nkabalo) gtry nako for 1500 iterations nd 1300 vram allocation, wa pud errors...oo ng artifact ni sya sir keropi twice katong pag start nako ug 3d app while ongoing ang on/off2x sa video kernel error...mao to pag start nakog game naay nigawas very few artifacts nya cgeg gawas tong video driver kernel error...if ever sir, dili pd kaha ni possibly sa psu?...makadaug mn xa nuon sir, kung mag furmark/occt ko ug heavy graphics gaming d man sya mu palong or any indications nga d kadaog og power....

Yes, dili na psu bai. Mapwng ra unta na or mawad-an ug display ug dili kadaog ang psu. Or kung grabe kaayo ka-underpowered, pag-start pa lang wa na kay makita or mag power recycle ang pc.

How about pag restart bro? Mao ra gihapon? Kanang warm pa sya, kanang bag-o ra sya nahuman ug furmark.

try Resident Evil 6 benchmark tapos ipaloop. I find the game sensitive to vram setting changes as per experience.

    @Sempron Guy

ok sir akoa itry ug run ana nga game, although gpanf suwayan na nako ang ac4, thief, battlefield4, crysis2 ug 3 nga games...wla jud problema like slowdowns or crashes...smooth kaau sya...dd2 lang gyud kanang pag startup sa pc or pagsulod mismo sa windows mugawas tong kernel driver error..

I asked this because i want to confirm about my hunch about a loose solder or a microfracture somewhere in the gpu. It could be loosing contact when cold then regains contact once init na sya because the solders expand.. (or something like that )
