Marcos= the mythical hydra.he was taken out and many others worst than him came out.

You mentioned MANY, now can you cite at least one filipino individual who came out much worse than Marcos post edsa 1? I have yet to see a filipino that came out of EDSA 1 much worse than Marcos, at least on the following circumstances:

1. Human Rights record
2. Freedom of Speech and freedom of the press
3. State sponsored crony capitalism. The confiscation of privately owned companies by force.
4. Kleptocracy- the amassing of billions of dollars of stolen money from state coffers
5. Kapit Tuko Syndrome- many people criticize former pres GMA of such.. yet only those who lived during the Marcos Regime knew what it takes to stay in power. Macoy's ambition of staying in Malacañang in perpetuity is a fact.
6. The establishment of a cult of personality which is a carbon copy of other similar dictatorships worldwide (Khadaffi, Hussein, Chairman Mao, etc..). This became the blueprint of many social problems we encounter today like the institution of corruption, personality politics, etc..

EDSA 1 is not about Juan dela Cruz to get financially better. This is one of the misconceptions from the public, courtesy of those who cannot accept that the dark regime was finally over.

Those facts you posted are still disputed. Anyone can claim to become a human rights victims. Too murky to verify some of them. Besides, there's compensation so yeah, why not join.

Pasensya na brad ha but I have to say IT IS A BIG INSULT on your fellow kababayan when you try to downplay the human rights atrocities that happened during the Marcos Regime, much worse if you put doubts on the public mind regarding the authenticity of the said victims on the list. Ang imong comment murag manghud lang sa gisulti ni Bongbong ug Imelda na complete denial gyud sila sa mga nahitabo. I have an uncle whose body never surfaced after the 1986 revolution. My mom had 3 cousins who are small farmers in Zambo Sur, where 2 male cousins was summarily executed by the military for allegedly being NPA members. Her female cousin who worked as a cashier in a "cabaret" in Iligan was physically abused, then gikulata ug gisakay sa military jeep, then thrown at a roadside and left for dead. Daghan witnesses that's why we were able to identify kinsa nga opisyal involved, but nobody wants to witness. WHO WOULD DARE WITNESS AGAINST THE MILITARY AND CONSTABULARY DURING THE REGIME? Oh by the way my dad as an activist also spent jail time like 4 days in a police camp for instigating a rally in his school , maayo nalang giduphan sa iyang ninong who happened to be a colonel.

And do you know that my relatives are not on the list of this so-called human rights victims? Kung kamo bai if you attempt to downsize the actual number of victims, I do the opposite coz I saw the regime myself. In my estimates, if there is only 1 that is officially reported and documented in every 3 or 5 victims, then the actual number in reality could easily reach more than 50,000.

Ako bai makasabot man ko if you have nothing to do with the Edsa Revolution. Even my younger siblings in the family halos dili na sila maka connect. Ang akoa lang ba, let us all just respect the said occasion because I believe it was significant for the future of our country. The last thing we want is to criticize the said event and worse try to revise history. That will never happen as long as I'm alive, coz nakita nako nga dili gyud maayo ang pamalakad ni Marcos ug nisamot pag deklara niya martial law.

Similarly, EDSA gives me that dark impression, that we traded one corrupt dictator for a hundred of corrupt oligarchs. Talk about fire and frying pans.

Oh please, like it was only the philippines at that time who was going through a rough period. It was at the height of the cold war, there were many proxy wars left and right. My father was also an activist and was imprisoned, he was also one of the few who was tasked by the US to help plot Marcos overthrow. During that time he believed EDSA would actually help the country but now he even tells me it's really a hopeless case for the country.

Did you even consider the other despotic regimes that were present that time? They were supported by the US but we both know what happens when they decide to no longer listen to US dictates.

They may even make marcos look better since their basis on what they did to people was not on intelligence reports but rather belonging to a certain class of society.

If marcos was really that evil how come he was given US support from the time he declared martial law even up to the years after martial law was lifted? Didn't the US do the same to the other dictatorships they supported? Martial law has come and come, yes there were memories but you people try to make it look like with marcos gone everything would be better regardless of what happens and now we have this mess of a country.
