Default GPU inquiry, MSI GTX 680 lightning...

UPDATE v2: So naka kuha na ko ug much better nga psu, silverstone st60f 600w modular 80+ bronze courtesy of boss 42te. Now I am a bit confident at overclocking this gpu now kay taas2 na wattage or at least ang amperage sa iya 12V rail thingy hehe. So, I was out to prove to myself nga the 770 lightning is just a rebadge 680 lightning. And prove it I did, ako gi overclock same sa stock settings sa 770 using msi afterburn. Stable, no problem whatsoever. Ako gi compare using some game benchmarks like Metro LL, Tomb Raider, NBA 2k14, then Unigine heaven benchmark and yeah still stable. Temps, well pinaka taas na abot was 61 C at around 90-100% gpu load. FPS however roughly around 2-3 fps ra difference sa stock lol. So what does this tell me? I got a pretty good deal with this gpu lol. And what this tells us is that GPU makers are probably out of ideas how to improve or step up their hardware. Of course it's just my opinion teehee.

UPDATE: So I got this to work na and so happy with it. A shame I'll have to stick with stock performance to be on the safe side and will never really know how powerful this thing can be. But I'll do that when this graphics card gets outdated na myb next year teehee...

Sa mga gpu enthusiasts dri istorya or for those who own this graphics card quick question lng, ok rba gamitan ug 6+2 pin ug 6 pin converted to 8 pin para mu power ani MSI GTX 680 Lightning? Duha ka 8 pin man gud and need ani nga graphics card. Ang ako psu diay is a silverstone 500w bronze modular nga 6+2 pin ug 6 pin ra ang available pci-e connectors. I'ma get me a converter na lng para sa 6 pin para duha na ka 8 pin, but will it work?

Also, I am aware the 680 lightning needs at least 550w minimum or was it 650w? I duno correct me if i'm wrong na lng, but i saw a palit gtx 680 running on a 500w psu. If I'm not mistaken same ramn cgro na ug mga tdp tanan 680 so yeah I should be good with the power supply cgro pero ang connectors lng ang ako 'blema.

I am actually going to get this in a trade so it's not really a waste of money for a dated gpu. Also ang graphics card na lng ako makuha wala na accessories so that's why ako pa mu provide sa 6 pin to 8 pin converter para ani. So before i proceed with the trade ngutana sa ko mga master dri hehe. Lamat daan.

Yes ok lang. Though the 2 extra pins on the 6+2 auxiliary pcie power are just grounds, jumpers will work. Quite unusual how msi requires those extra power connectors because my reference 680 only uses 2-6pin connectors. I bet even 2-6pins will work on them as long as walay sensors on those extra pins.

imong 6+2 and 6 pin is on the same cable, probably magka problema ka sa power handling capacity depende sa wire gamit. it might be safer para nako to convert at least 2 separate cable from molex to 8pin. what your considering will work though.

I actually saw for myself that this graphics card cannot run on two 6 pins as well as 6+2 pins ug 6 pin. Well, mu boot siya pero naa messsage mu gawas after sa bios nga "..please replace power connectors and power down.." or something like that and the guy testing this had a 1000w psu.

Aw, so i guess msi implemented a strict power requirement for this card. Mao man ni diay tong naay overvoltage switch noh? I read it adds extra .3v once turned on.

Anyway, unsay complete specs sa imo rig? What's more worrisome is kung kadaug ba imo 500w psu. That extra .3v could convert to roughly 60-70w of 12v juice (around 62w to be more precise). I am testament though that a reference 680 SYSTEM would run flawlessly on 30A of 12v. Add at least 6A(72w) for overvoltage on your card, and youve got 36A to feed. I guess your psu only has 32 or 34A. It will work, no doubt, but it is already on the brink. Plus that is one hungry card. With that i recommend you have at least 40A on 12v rail.

    diara TS.

a great full and DETAILED reiteration of what i posted why mapasmo na your Vcard.

upgrade your PSU to 600W at least

    SST600W 80+ bronze will suffice

    that PSU has 2 x 8pin PCI-E native + 2 x PIN PCI-E

Maulaw ta ako specs hehe but ako na gi input sa usa ka PSU calculator nga webiste and around 388w daw w/ the 680 nana and assuming mao ra tdp tanan 680. Of course theoratical ra cgro na and let's just say 5%-8% margin of error so mga 400+w give or take hehe.
