my movie of the year. improves on pretty much everything from the first movie. Jennifer Lawrence again showing so much range, such a great actress. she IS Katniss Everdeen. Donald Sutherland as President Snow was great too. very chilling scene at the start when he and Katniss had that conversation. really, great performances from all the actors. also love that they gave Effie more depth this movie. her stammering during the Reaping really made her more human and part of the team. awesome job by Elizabeth Banks.
perhaps the one thing that I feel was lacking and could have improved the film a bit more was how Peeta was dealing with the Games. we saw Katniss had PTSD, and Haymitch implies that nobody wins the games and everyone comes out damaged in some way. Peeta strangely looks very clean and undamaged. he's not the best combatant, but he doesn't have any visible faults. I'd also like to see what made Haymitch a drunkard.
anyway, the effects are better, the Capitol City actually looks like a city. I love the ending, it makes me crave for more. can't wait for Mockingjay Part I next year.
